And, pulling a Gr8 today...going in to work on my day off. Problem is that I want to get there between 8 and 8:15. At that usual time, I've already been at work for awhile. Now, I get to drive with all the "normals" that have 8-5 jobs.

I do admit, the early drive in doesn't suck all that bad.

I've been on since 4:30. Got called once again on something that has nothing to do with my job. Just like 8:30pm last night.

Been noticing several people who got gastric bypass lately have gained the weight back now. That is a drastic measure to lose weight and life altering. That has to be a near life endangering type thing.

It is. Our daughter did it. She has to wear wigs because her hair is so thin. She's 46 but without makeup she looks to be in her 60s...and the makeup is so thick you can tell it's put on with a putty knife.
She gets violent stomach aches if she eats too much at one setting, so she has to eat tiny snacks 25+ times a day. IMO, she was better off overweight.

MrsWx has an uncle that did it and just didn't stick with it post surgery and is back to exactly where he was pre surgery. Doesn't seem to have any of the issues that @ImJustKCClone daughter does but he has other issues (bad knees etc.) Can hardly walk, sat down and broke a chair at his parents house while they were gone, didn't tell them and just left it there until MrsWx found it and was all WTF happened here.

The Mummy is probably my favorite "popcorn" movie. And highly quotable. And Brendan Fraser.

There's a...theory? Addage?...that comedic actors make better dramatic actors than vice-versa. Comedy is allll about timing. Just think about these actors:

Robin Williams - wins Oscar for Good Will Hunting, has acclaimed roles in The Fisher King, Dead Poets' Society, What Dreams May Come. Haven't seen the movie, but I've read/heard that he's REALLY creepy in One Hour Photo.

Bryan Cranston - We get to know him as the dad in Malcolm in the Middle, but he wins four leading actor in a drama Emmys for Breaking Bad (deservedly so), and he won a Tony for portraying LBJ on Broadway. Actually, he's won two Tonys. (We can also have a discussion about hits/misses of screen actors switching to stage)

There's a whole slew of other examples, but I'm not going to list them all.

You right, but I'll throw in old school, Jack Lemon, and newer school, Tom Hanks.

I believe it has its place, but you need a lifestyle change with it without surgery. I finally got tired of the extra weight earlier and getting mono kickstarted me. I’m almost 2/3 of my goal but may try to add a little extra at the end to see if I can. Being almost 50 tells me I need to eat like 50 and not 25.

That extra would get me to when I was married. Would need to buy new clothes though.

I believe they make you lose some weight prior to surgery to prove that you are capable of/willing to do it as the surgery is only part of the equation. Obviously it can have dire consequences if you don't follow through perfectly.

A guy I know that did it had to do 6 months of diet change and psych evals before he had the surgery.

You mean "when you got married?" Otherwise there's something you haven't told us.

I did some work yesterday (ISU holiday) and it was helpful to have that done before today. Moved most of my office stuff back to my work office this morning. Still have my chair and footrest thing (it needs a really good cleaning first) at home, and probably will be finding assorted papers, etc. for a while. I thought I'd done a decent job of organizing these past many months, and now assume that to be not totally true.

The drive in did indeed suck. Meh.

I'm with the other RTTer's here, Gr8. Ya need to get out...like...two months ago.

The only movie I've seen all the way through with Jack Lemon (Lemmon?) was Grumpy Old Men, and that was a long time ago. May have to find a movie or two of his.

And good example with Tom Hanks. Could he ever go back and do a straight comedy project again? A lot of his dramas have a smidge of comedy to them, so you see a bit of 80's Hanks. (I'm not counting the Toy Story franchise) There were some comedic moments in Catch Me If You Can, but I don't think that movie would be classified as comedy. It would be interesting to see him be just as a supporting actor in a comedy.

Was reading one of Roger Ebert's books last night (what an exceptional human being he was!) and he was relating a convo he had with Groucho Marx some years ago while walking down the street in Los Angeles. As they passed a theater, Groucho noticed the marquee and remarked that he was wanting to see the film.

Whereupon he walked up to the ticket booth and said, "Hello, I'm Groucho Marx, star of stage and screen. Do you have the audacity to charge me for a ticket to this film?"

(They didn't. ;))

4.5 weeks until MrsWx graduates and is an RN (YAY!!!!) We also just found a house for sale that is exactly what we are looking for so I put the pressure on her that if she wants the house she needs to have the convo with her boss about making sure she can transition to an RN position from LPN and go full time (I HIGHLY doubt it will be an issue but we need that in order to move forward. We will see if that helps motivate her.
