My first game was in 1981, so just missed it by a year. Thought the first game we were on ESPN was in '84. Kind of cool to see we were on in the real early days.

Helmet/uni design is 1980, which makes it the Nebraska game.

Good analysis. I knew it couldn't be '84 OU that was referenced earlier (ISU wore gold helmet, cardinal jersey, white pants that game. Had to be Duncan-era since we didn't return to cardinal helmet until Mac (except for Criner "reward helmets").

How can you pinpoint that it's vs. Nebraska? It can't be based on that photo, apparently you remember that specifically being televised. (I listened to that game on radio :) )

It was the only home game on ESPN that year. And back then, ESPN didn't/couldn't show games live. Everything was tape-delayed.

I wonder if they accidentally saved the zoomed in position as the "default". It moves occasionally but I think a lot of it is automated motion with saved positions. A few minutes ago it zoomed out, but then it quickly zoomed right back in to the exact same view it's been on since yesterday.

Also, there appears to be activity on the NE hillside, a bobcat moving dirt and several workers milling around. Is the sod coming soon? :)

I totally agree. I understand the requirement to have a paved surface on the outer edges of the playing field for equipment and TV, however, they need to make this a lower slip surface before someone gets hurt. I would imagine they could keep the existing asphalt and apply a low-slip top coat - from a cost savings standpoint. Perhaps they are planning to do something different next year when the grass field is replaced (if anyone has any inside information). This would be the time to do something different

Jack Trice actually has a pretty large buffer space compared to a lot of stadiums. The blacktop surface has been there since the turf was removed.
