Did the first drawing of the bridge show it extending this far east? Maybe it did and I didn't pay enough attention. I would have thought there would be stairs that go up closer to this area so the bridge wouldn't have to extend quite so far, but maybe there are ADA reasons for the longer bridge?

check out the second attachment in Ginger's post. it looks like there are stairs in each corner of the I-State towers (on both sides of the road)

My only concern with this design is it limits the ability to widen University in the future which I think would be an idea if the Entertainment District ever comes to fruition.

They won't widen it for that. That entertainment district won't generate enough traffic to justify it. Plus the bottleneck would still be the surrounding streets or getting onto 30 so all those extra lanes wouldn't really do anything. Just be open space with a thousand people sitting in a single left turn lane.

Probably either need to have a ramp or elevators in the bridge columns for ADA. The original plan must have included elevators since it had the bridge ending with no ramp. With the original plan I think the stairs could have been pretty crowded during game days.

I would think there would to be a need for an elevator in order to meet ADA requirements. Is someone supposed to go all the way back to the beginning of the walkway in order to access the stadium?

There will never be a reason to widen University Blvd. I think you are drastically overestimating the amount of traffic the entertainment district would cause.

So…a guard rail atop the wall, right?

Because lots of the kids trying to see the players run out won’t clear 42”.

I would guess that the final grade of the grass will be just below 42" below the top of the new concrete walls. No personal knowledge but that is what it looks like to me on the web came looking at the elevated concrete walk that has been poured north of the Jacobson Building in relation to the top of adjacent concrete retaining wall.

Definitely. I was kind of hoping that they'd be a little further along for the OV weekends given the building was enclosed back in November, but I guess with all the different subcontractors, things take more time. That locker room is ridiculous...especially the middle area. Playing Madden or the new NCAA FB game on those screens would be crazy.
From what Jamie said, he’s more concerned about the outdoor work, which is being slowed by rain. I think the kids will understand if there is still some finishing work being done inside.

Hopefully much of that jumble of obstacles and debris can be cleared before June 4th. It won’t look so messy.

I guess we’re on the countdown for the NW walkways next, huh?

Looking at the new drawings, have we seen that "stadium walkway" in any renderings before? Looks like an elevated walkway going from the bridge and goes north around the stadium and turns into a path on the hills of the north endzone.

Will there still be gates on the north side of the stadium? Doesn't seem likely if they purposely built a walkway from the north side to the new Gate 1 & 2.

Gate 2 is moving to the top of the east stairs to mesh with the ramp.

Gate 1 and Gate 5 will be in the same places as before, just oriented 90 degrees different.

The walkway will be exterior, to allow people to go from the IM/RV area to the north plaza without obstruction.

I believe it runs into the West concourse, the same way it does on the East side.

Everyone is missing one critical component. This is Holy Land. Everyone who visits that has ailments will be healed upon their visit and will be able to bound up the stairs without issue.:jimlad:

edit: we will be able to re-institute the time honored tradition of running up the stairs . . . only inside the towers. "pirate again"
