Jayden Nunn Decommits

Here is just an observation from what I've read. I don't think the people that are saying TJ "should of reached out" are upset that Nunn decommitted. TJ needs to be the one that unltimately decides on who he wants in the program. I think it's mostly the fact that it is the right thing to do and tell a high school kid that the new staff wouldn't be honoring that scholarship. Atleast that's how I feel about it. In the grand scheme of things, it's not that big of deal. It's a real possibility that the kid also felt butthurt and felt this was a way to get in a dig at the new coach.

It takes probably a total of 5 minutes to get his number and to text him! I totally understand if TJ thinks he can bring in better talent and hope that's the case. But if Nunn truly heard nothing I can't say I like that way of doing things.

Well, Matt Campbell did the same thing when he started out at ISU...

If TJ ends up doing to the MBB program what CMC did, I will be more than happy to be called an idiot. Wouldn't be the first time I was dead wrong and won't be the last.

I run into this all the time with my business as veterinarian. We have tough discussions with people that are obviously protected by HIPPA and then see idiots go on social trashing fellow vets for “doing nothing” and bad of people we are. I so badly want to call them out for the fact that their pet being sick isn’t my fault nor is it my fault you can’t afford a pet little alone the other five dogs in your possession. Oh, and don’t tell me you can’t afford even a minimal intervention while you reek of cigarettes.

Sorry for the rant.

(There’s a reasons veterinarians have a 2.5x suicide rant compared to the general population.)

Believe me I feel your pain

Cogent point.

But I don't make the rules here and you are an Otzelberger hater for making it. :jimlad: Or so I've been told.

The reason people despise this forum is everyone wants to reduce every discussion to straw man fighting and it's a little pathetic.

If he did not fit into TJs vision then its good for all involved but i presume or hope it was professionally done by the lead recruiter if still on the staff. A 6 4 pt guard from Flint will find a landing spot as will Tyler and the others.

Right, and I appreciate that. The real point is, it’s not unusual at all in college sports. Hell, it had only been what, three days? I think a lot of fans are nitpicking and being overly dramatic about something that is not at all outside the norm.

Fair point. I hope it was just genuinely a miscommunication thing and given TJs recruiting reputation he can replace that spot with someone who can be a building block moving forward.

A text or call introducing yourself and just saying you are uncertain of things but you or a staff member will be reaching out more extensively later. 1-2 minutes of your time.
The first thing a kid is going to do with we are thinking about it is decommit.

I don’t think the problem here is whether the new staff wanted him or not. It’s the optics that are the issue. A coach could look at this and say that TJ doesn’t care about his players and therefore said coach could steer players away from ISU. Not something you want to start with especially on the recruiting trail.

I know there’s a lot going on, but a quick text to all committed recruits letting them know you’ll call them soon once the staff has been nailed down to talk.

nobody here will ever know what really happened. a unsigned player has all the power here because a coach cannot publicly give his side of the story so it could just be sour grapes. time to move on.

Another thing wasn’t a guy that was committed to unlv at the same school? And weren’t we all hoping we could get him and nunn could help?

I find it hard to believe TJ would do something stupid. But now we have nunn at the very least talking **** about our guy.

You are so excited about a recruit that nobody on this site has argued that we actually need. I can’t wait to see your reaction after T.J’s first loss. Actively working to undercut the hire full-time in the last week. Very impressive.

Seriously. I have not said TJ should have kept him. Find anywhere where I’ve said that I disagree with removing his scholarship offer. I’ll wait.

I’m only saying that maybe a bit of diplomacy in dumping him might have been in order.
