Jayden Nunn Decommits

TJ doesn’t need young guys who aren’t Big 12 caliber. He doesn’t have to win next year. He needs to build for year 2. Get a guy like Hunter who can help right but there’s no reason to take a failed regimes projects.

You sure Hunter will be here more than one year?

Nunn was not signed. Why not? Tyrese Hunter is signed. Until signed, verbal commitments are not binding. It really looks like Prohm and Small were making a major recruiting reach. And neither are going to be on the Iowa State Coaching Staff.

Again, that's not my point. I don't care if he was signed and TJ told him to take a hike. That's TJ's choice.

My only issue with this (and it isn't even that big of an issue, but I'm annoyed at the people who are determined to excuse it completely) is that TJ should have called him. That's the right thing to do.

UTEP, Siena, Eastern Michigan, Miami (OH)

I was not a fan of the TJ hire, but his talent evaluation is not the reason I was skeptical.

Honestly, who cares if TJ didn’t contact Nunn. If he did and pulled the scholly Nunn would have put that out there as well. This, in my opinion is the better option.

Nunn never says he wasn’t contacted, he just wasn’t contacted by TJ.

He is acting like the kind of person you wouldn’t want on the team anyway. He could have just said he is moving on due to the coaching change and been done with it.
I know what you're trying to say, but let's not include Eastern Michigan. They actually made the NCAA tournament this year, which is more than can be said for us.

If an assistant contacted Nunn and told him TJ wasn't interested, I have zero issue with this. I don't see the need for TJ to personally contact a kid that he never recruited. An assistant should be able to do that.

Now if nobody on staff reached out, and this kid has truly has been sitting in the dark for the past week, the optics change a little. But as some on here have indicated, it sounds like someone on staff did reach out.

Forget it. We're in the early stages where TJ can walk on Lake Laverne and turn water into Busch Lite. Right now he could shoot someone in the middle of Welch avenue and not lose any fans.
I was meh on the TJ hire, but ******** because a recruit whose other options are miami oh wasnt personally informed by TJ himself isnt something im going to crap my pants about. You all act like the CEO of every company is the one going around and personally firing people (who were never even hired), which is laughable. Hell, TJ might have thought the news would be better coming from someone the kid actually knew who was on staff before. Don't know. Would it have been nice of TJ had the time to do it, sure, but this isnt a reason to get our panties bunched up.

Your first paragraph is right

First....it's delusional to think TJ needs to get the calibur player of Carr.........until Nunn de-commits. Now....we need to be competing against KU for players.........which Carr is. Never stop being you.
What are you not understanding here? I expect TJ to recruit better than Nunn, I don't expect him to land Marcus Carr 3 days into his new job. Anybody expecting Carr right away is delusional about how bad the program is right now.

If this was Tj taking over for Fred in 2015 we might have a shot.

A call from TJ should have been made but we don't know the entire story. Right now were at 14 pages of speculation off of Nunn's tweet. I guess there is a reason that we'll hear about later that explains the reasoning. It could be as simple as asking DRob who Nunn has a relationship with talk with him first. TJ likely has never talked to Nunn before.

I disagree - TJ should call priorities - let the assistants and others handle the non- priority .

I understand you 5x5. We expect to recruit better that Nunn......but not as good as Carr. We need to be competing against Kansas for players not Sienna........unless it's players the caliber of Carr. Pull the nail out of your foot so you stop walking in circles.

so much this.... there’s a lot of speculation going on here when no one has heard TJ’s side of the story.
I’m going to play a little devils advocate here as well. Since communication is always a two way street Jayden could’ve easily reached out to his contact(s) at ISU as well and asked or even pushed for a call/discussion with TJ. What coach or hiring official would not want someone that takes initiative and leads like that?

If this tweet is any indication, perhaps TJ was smart not to talk to him personally. Sometimes, you just have to avoid making things worse.

Let’s just say I’m working on my mute list today. If you can’t help but make assumptions and run with them when you know damn well that you aren’t in the loop and have next to no verifiable facts then that’s a you problem. It also means I shouldn’t waste my time reading your pathetic rants.

Not how things should be handled on our side. A quick text saying you are the new coach and will be getting in touch in a few days needed to happen. Only have 2-3 commits, not like football where there are 25-30.
You don't know what all was involved. Easy to be critical when one knows nothing. I would be willing to bet that TJ was not sitting at home eating crackers. They certainly don't need pointers from some dimwit on Cyclone Fanatic.

So I haven't even been following basketball recruiting that closely. So Nunn did not sign an LOI?
