Bad look to not reach out, even if you didn’t want to offer the kid a scholarship. Just tell him, ISU needs some time to reevaluate. Now Nunn made the decision himself. Hope this wasn’t intentional by TJ.
I think you're probably spot on. Nunn was upset because he had an assistant make that call. With TJ holding off until he could give the kid a definitive answer.

Might of been TJs way of testing how an assistant can handle uncomfortable conversations?

And the business has a head man that has become the new ownership before so knows how this works, and also only has staffing in the teens as well as multiple national websites and news organizations that have tracked all of the the future employees that both prior parties have agreed to work for the company.

No one is calling for TJ to be fired over it. No one is calling for Nunn’s scholarship to be honored. It was clearly a bad decision by someone that should know better because he’s been through this before, and the amount of hoops some of you are willing to jump through to defend it is weird.
I have defended both sides. If you read what I've said, he should have done it. But I'm also saying Otz clearly has a different agenda and more important priorities.

Have you ever submitted a resume to a job that didn't bother to call you back? I've also said, numerous times on here, I think he should have called him. I'm just saying there are more than just being the good guy. Good guy gets you Prohm.
I usually get a letter in the mail 2 months later saying they have filled the position.

Come on. You know this is different.

Maybe he kid is lying and he did talk to TJ.

But maybe he’s not and TJ should have spent 10 minutes talking to him.

Matt Campbell did the same exact thing when he took over. He was all over Rhoads recruits like Kene and a couple others ... you know, the guys Campbell actually wanted. Others were not getting contacted and I remember a couple decomitting and saying the same thing.

Regardless, if that is his decision, he should at least contact a recruit who committed to ISU. It's the classy thing to do and not very considerate to not do so. Not good for a coach's reputation as a recruiter or a person, especially in Flint with the quality players who've come from there.

FFS, he just contacted Tamin Lipsey yesterday. Maybe his actual priority was talking to the current roster first before moving down the list.

We’ve been led to believe TJ is the best person ever. You’d think he’d realize the value of him talking to the kid.

If he wanted him, then yeah he would have. Clearly he did not make him a priority. I think it’s pretty clear why.

The way he words it makes me feel bad. He really wanted to be a cyclone.
We were his only high major offer. It's like getting 3 job interviews. One with google, and 2 at those kiosks they have in the middle of the mall that sell phone covers or embroidered hats. Of course you want the google job.

Not like Nunn waited a long time. Probably jealous that TJ focused on hunter and not him. TJ was hired, moved across the country, had a introduction press conference only 2 days ago. Is having to form a staff, meet with current players, and recruits. Would it have been a better look to have had him talk to nunn? Sure, but as far as priorities, nunn is probably bottom of the list. Hunter is the more important of the recruits and has also actually signed. I'm sure it doesn't feel good to be a low priority. Probably got delegated to an assistant coach who actually knows nunn. Delegation is something i have read prohm struggled with. Sucks for nunn. I'm sure we all rather have nunn on twitter talking about how ISU isnt committed to their recruits and pull offers.

Just a heads up there are going to be some questionable moves coming up that make sense behind the scenes but you guys will surely freak out about lol

Wait!! You have insider info on ISU Athletics just like you do on Iowa?? You should be a sportswriter!:p

Kidding twins but it was too easy to pass up.

We need a culture change. A big reason for Prohm's failure was too many kids like this who didn't really want to be here and put in the work. I'm done with the whiny crybabies. Give me some dudes that just want to play ball and get after it instead of being drama queens.

For the 20th time, no one is saying that you are wrong. But to not contact someone that is committed, is a **** move. It would literally take 5 minutes.

I love how everyone seems like what TJ did was ok. He made it a priority to reach out to Hunter immediately, he could of done the same thing with Nunn. Even if they weren't going to honor his scholarship, atleast call the kid and tell him that.

This is Big 12 basketball. Big Boy basketball. It’s about building a winner at the Big 12 level, not worrying over one recruits feeling.

If Blackwell, Stone, Johnson, and Jackson leave, I won’t be mad.
Agree but losing all of them gives us a short bench.

Hold X, Conditt, Hinson, Walker, Bolton, convince JCL to come back, and add 3 transfers/ flips we'd be at 9. Having a couple of the guys you mentioned would help depth.

Without knowing anything more other than the tweet, seems like an unforced error by TJ not to at least reach out. Of course, right now we're only getting Nunn's side of the story.

Reaching out would have been wise, but I’d imagine with this kid TJ probably needed to evaluate his tape before seeing how he fits in. The kid is unranked with no other major offers— I’d imagine before TJ rushed to talk the kid he wanted to know where he saw him fitting in, if at all.

With Hunter you can in day one say you are prioritizing keeping him because that’s a no-brained. With Nunn, I can imagine wanting to see if you can figure out what Steve saw in him that no one else did before you call.
