That’s not the risk he’s speaking of.
When you hire a coach there’s a risk they’ll fail. When you hire your friend in 24 hours without genuinely pursuing candidates conventionally viewed as better, it should be your job at risk.

JP will be in his 60’s by the time we know. He may not be planning on dealing with the consequences

Unfortunately I think you’re onto something here...

If you REALLY think that this was a 24 hour search, I don't know what to tell you. Everyone knew that Prohm was gone for at least a month now.

I mean, do you really think Pollard was interviewing other coaches while he still had a coach on staff?

That'd be out of character for Pollard.

He may have been creating a list of who to interview (if he was interviewing anyone but TJ) but there's no way he could have done a real process in 24 hours post-firing.

Can everybody take a chill pill, maybe go to bed, and wait until there is actually something official? TJ might end up being the coach, but for now it’s nothing more than rumors.

Its what he wanted to do last time.

Its what he probably is doing this time.

He's making a hire that determines the future of the next several years for the program. That makes it worthy of doing a full search and interview process. Never know if someone will excel in their interview.
Supposedly Prohm excelled in the interview and that's what got him the job.

If he's our coach now, I'm behind him. He wasn't in my top three, but I looked in my mailbox, my email, and my Iphone, and neither Pollard nor Wendy was asking my opinion.
This ain't hard, folks.
We're headed up from 2-22/0-18 and I don't care if Elmer Fudd is the new coach.

Casual fans won’t know him. They won’t hate him but they’ll be perplexed.
Casual fans shouldn’t have much input honestly since they’re barely knowledgeable of who were hiring. Casual fans should just zip the lip and enjoy the game.

They will if he wins.

His win percent at Iowa State was on par with the Donnie Duncan’s and Jim Waldens of the program.

He also coached in 3 bowls in his first 4 years. And had one of the biggest wins in ISU history. He tailed off at the end, which is why he was fired. Look, I'm not saying he was a great coach, but as ISU FB coaches go, I don't know how anyone can look at that as a bad hire. I mean, if you compare him to Campbell, he was, but Campbell is considered one of the top 10 coaches in CFB. I don't know that using that as criteria for judging a hire is fair. Especially at ISU.
