Gunner is a troll, you may occasionally agree with his trolling but he just takes the position that will rile people up the most. I say that as a 100% gunner fan.
I have no issue with Gunner. He usually puts up a better counter than false authority. Likely indicative of how flawed this approach is.

It’s not like we fired the coach of a bubble team. Steve Prohm was 100% deserving of being fired. By any program in the country. That the boss had the replacement lined up immediately doesn’t look bad in any way.

He’s opening himself to be judged by hiring TJ so quickly. He knows that given his video this morning.

You are coming off as a complete ass during this process. I mean you stated that one could envision that TJ was openly cheering for Iowa State to loss the last five years. I think it will be very difficult for your opinion to be considered objective over the next few years given that you have pretty much already made up your mind. Which is interesting given how upset some were that CSP didn’t get a fair shake?
How rich coming from you.

I am excited to hire Otz. Guy is a young up and coming coach who can recruit, runs an exciting brand of b-ball, and bleeds cardinal and gold. Even aside from all the dbags who act like they know exactly how this went down, I don’t understand the hate from so many fans about this hire. But that is why they play the games...

Worth noting that if we had hired Otz the last time around, we very well may not be in this mess. Looking forward to some much needed excitement around this program.

Has JP ever conducted a coaching search in public in his entire time at ISU?

In terms of actually letting people know he's interviewing people? No, he prides himself on trying to have no leaks which has basically never been the case (LOL).

And again - I'm reading between the lines. To me, optically, it just looks like "hired my friend a day after I fired the other guy." The reality could be different, but JP should probably up his optics game if he doesn't want people to question these things. Believe it or not, people not on the internet on this site, in probably more important types of roles around this will question it. And maybe it's fine - it's just not a good look for a guy talking about integrity and implying he has such high integrity.

Prohm said he had had conversations with JP almost daily. JP said he asked Prohm what changes needed to be made to move the program forward. Who is to say when that conversation happened and when JP decided to make the change.

Beyond that, watching for airplane tickets or where they are traveling to at this time is a waste of time. How many ZOOM interviews can happen in a couple days. If JP decided two weeks ago to let Prohm coach out the season and then make a change, he likely started going over his list of choices with people he trusts, perhaps even asking opinions of other AD's at the selection weekend during off times.

I will wait for an official announcement, but if it is TJ, I will support him and see what he can do. If it is someone else, I will support them as well.

Seems TJ can recruit. And being on the staff with McDermott and Hoiberg, he certainly saw two different styles of play. He was on other staffs as well. I am sure he knows more X's and O's that he is given credit for. I hope, if it is him, he is able to convince enough of our talent on the team and recruits to stay, as well as have some room for a couple new guys he brings in for next year so we see what we are looking forward too.

I have no idea what people stand to gain on here by shredding TJ and or JP. Thread is just loaded with terrible takes.

No offense, but we have serious posts on here after every Campbell loss bashing him. It’s not the majority of posters but it’s not nobody either.

This type of hire was going to be polarizing.

And I bet he won’t get that at Iowa state in 5 years. He won’t have mike daum.

He will get 5 years, regardless of record.
Most coaches probably have 3 years to get ISU to the NCAA bubble. TJ, if it is needed will get a much longer rope.

I know TJ loves Iowa State. And Iowa State IS his dream job. We’ve all known TJ has wanted this opportunity at ISU. I hope his enthusiasm and love for this university spreads success. We know he will bring in high quality Big 12 athletes. Can he coach them?
