Altman was also a candidate as far back as 2002 when Eustachy was fired. He was at Creighton at that time. ISU/Vandevelde went with Wayne Morgan.
We have a better chance of signing Dana Carvey than Dana Altman.

Have you been watching NU? It's pretty much like watching ISU...Jamie’s relationship with TJ tells me it’s going to be him but I’m hoping for Fred. Either way I’ll be able to watch Cyclone basketball again after 2 years.
$3.5m = Prohm‘s salary plus his buyout spread out
sigh
To me it is about the fact that Hoiberg accomplished the rebuild at ISU once already. That doesn't mean he can do it again, but that is something no other candidate can bring to the table. Any of the candidates that have been mentioned could flame out, even Hoiberg. As long as the cost doesn't affect other programs, and that is what is being said, I'm not concerned about the cost.Have you been watching NU? It's pretty much like watching ISU...
It just boggles the mind that people here want Fred Hoiberg, who has won 5 conference games in two years at NU, back at ISU. Especially since it means that ISU would have to pay a flipping $10,250,000 to Nebraska just for the privilege of hiring him.
ISU already has a coach that doesn't emphasize defense or rebounding, and runs a disorganized offense that requires a stellar point guard to make it work. Why do you want that again? It ain't workin'
for Hoiberg at NU either. NU is a significantly worse team than they were two years ago.
$10,250,000 is alot to pay for better inbounds plays. Please let Pollard not be this stupid.
His name came up both times the job opened up in the 2000's. I think his average run at K-State probably hurt his chances.Wasn't Dana's name swirling around for the ISU job previously?

They don’t belong in the same sentence. The interesting question is who everyone would pick if TJ and Hoiberg are the choices.

Fred all the way. Apparently we have alot of selective amnesia on this board. The butthurt must still be strong. The interesting question is who everyone would pick if TJ and Hoiberg are the choices.

Nobody wanted to work for Bruce Vandevelde. He was widely regarded by coaches, media, and donors as something of an ass hat.
The problem with Hoiberg was his initial build was with transfers (both grad and traditional sit-out). At the time we had first choice of the best players, then others schools including the Blue Bloods decided that it would work for them also.
Now we're stuck with the likes of Merrill Holden, Jeff Beverly, and Prentiss Nixon. We all know how those worked out for us.
I will give him kudos for bringing in Georges, Naz, Matt Thomas, and Monte after we were established.
