Where did Beard and Drew come from? What was Boykins prior head coaching experience?

Beard came from 10 years of high major experience, at Texas Tech even. Bolton experience at South Carolina and Ok St, being on the staff of his predecessor. Not to mention a special circumstance in which being a hire under less than auspicious circumstances for a coaching search. Drew was that to the extreme- you know, a murder exposing paying players.

You won’t find many hires at the HM level in which the coach has no HM experience or previous connections to the program. The hire Prohm was not the norm.

I think stadiums will be at capacity. But the question IMO, do schools require proof of vaccination?

Even the best vaccination is 95% effective. The J&J is something like 75%. So bringing 60k people together seems like a potential spreader event if 30-40% of those people aren't vaccinated.

The CDC is stating that vaccinated people can eat together in restaurants without any concerns.
They won't have tighter recommendations for outdoor seating in football stadiums.

And no, they won't require proof of vaccination. Might or might not be a good idea to require it, but there's no way that would happen at all.

But yeah, if 30-40% aren't vaccinated, it could be a pretty major spreading event for those people.

What is the norm?
Larry Eustacey- minimal P5 experience and none the 12 years before coming to ISU.
Tim Floyd - ZERO P5 experience
Greg McDermott -ZERO P5 coaching experience
Fred Hoiberg - Zero P5 coaching experience.

There may be a normal path, but there are just as many exceptions. Every AD hiring a Head Coach is trying to catch lightning in a bottle. So hiring the right coach is a long shot and not a sure thing.

Using your Tech example. After firing Pat Knight (who Beard worked for), Kirby Holcum hired Billy Gillispie, Walker and Tubby Smith before finally getting it right in bringing back Beard.

It might seem heartless, but some people will never learn. Get the vaccine or stay home, wear a mask or don't ask.

Why would Hoiberg agree to such a large buyout with Nebraska? Seems crazy, $10m? If we actually pony up that cash Hoiberg’s buyout for both college and NBA better be astronomical.

Same. Can't be worse than what we have now. There may or may not be better options, but I don't know what the options are so I can't judge yet.

It would be ginormous, however I’m not sure Fred cares about coaching in the NBA anymore. I also don’t think he wants to go anywhere besides ISU. At this point it’s not about the $ for him.

You literally have to “cheat” if you want to win. And is it really cheating if all the good teams do it, and you don’t get caught?

I also think they will still be requiring masks at that time. Guessing most schools still will.
