I mean, if JP does his diligence and finds Altman or Matta is interested, I'd take them over Fred.
If you have an interested Fred and a bunch of unproven mid major coaches, you take Fred.
Like I said a few days ago. He always knows.

I think it’s not exactly straight merit when it comes to Fred. Fred’s jersey is in the rafters despite not being POY in an 8 team league in a year there were co-POY. Yet plenty of people don’t think Ejim should, who was POY in a 12 team league that was best in the country. What are you basing this on? This seems like projection.
It’s pretty simple. A coach as good or better than Hoiberg will be loved as much or more than Hoiberg. A coach like Prohm that isn’t as good as Hoiberg will not be liked as much as Hoiberg. You could replace Hoiberg and Prohm’s names with any.
To think that comparison is not standard everywhere is being really weird about Hoiberg.
Just last night I was trying to remember who the poster was that freaked out about basketball all the time while also calling everyone Emo. That would be finalfourcyI thought that Finalfourcy was swarthmore. Haven't seen their condescending posts for a long while.
This is totally about Prohm. When you have a year where you don't win ANY games in conference...you'll think back to the better times to cope with the hurt. That's just a human trait. If Prohm was winning, we wouldn't be having these conversations. This isn't about Prohm. It's about how there's a segment of the fan base that still hasn't let Fred go and will likely hold it against whoever the new coach is that they aren't Fred.
Interesting to note that the buyout for Hoiberg at Nebraska to leave for the NBA is far lower than the buyout if Hoiberg goes to another D-1 program. Fred wants back in the NBA it appears. Otherwise why would the buyout be so much less.
I was talking about a specific post, obviously the coaching discussion is about Prohm and his absolute failure. This is totally about Prohm. But while some of that exists, there also seems to be some jilted lover bias against Fred that people will probably have forever.
Can anyone explain why Altman keeps coming up, and is seen as a viable candidate? Are there ties there? Did he mention ISU in an interview once? Likes the Ames Best Buy?
Oh ****! A coach that wants to coach and win at the highest level? Definitely don’t want that kind of attitude permeating our program.
It’ll end after Prohm because Fred will be our coach.![]()

I haven't done the research to know for sure, but I'm guessing many coaches have a lower nba buyout than D-1. Likely because ADs are trying to keep other D-1 schools from poaching their coach.Interesting to note that the buyout for Hoiberg at Nebraska to leave for the NBA is far lower than the buyout if Hoiberg goes to another D-1 program. For non blue bloods the model is getting older, having 4 year players that get to play with each other for most of their tenure. Maybe adding in a highly regarded transfer here or there. This requires development of the players and a coach that is good with X's and O's.Call me an idiot. It's OK. I just think it's time to consider a model that recognizes what's going on in college basketball today. Fred did that for us several years ago. What's the model for today and the future? If Fred has the insight and the ability to deliver, go for it. Otherwise, move on. It's OK. He'll still be a hero for us. I don't have the answer. I'm not a basketball x's and o's guy, and never played the game.
Matt A paid Jameel McKay’s rent.
Has The Mayor indicated he wants to come back?
