Solo mustered up 3 rebounds in the last 2 games. Sorry, that's not playing hard.he played hard in those 2 games. JCL plays really hard. Tre and Tyler play hard.

There is definitely some “disagreement”, and the relationship between the two is the likely hang-up (not the buyout). Not necessarily a bad relationship but prohibitive to Hoiball 2.0. It’s very common in these situations for there to be conditional interest. If JP wanted it to happen, it could. And that’s why donors are talking.
I certainly agree with this. I don't agree with the person who said Fred and Prohm's offense is the same lol. There is so much more going on in Fred's offense compared to Prohm's.Hoiberg kind of cracked this code...
-- build free-flowing offense that generates lots of open jump shots
-- recruit guys who make jump shots, regardless of their other basketball skills
= instant powerhouse offense.
Other teams have put more emphasis on these now, too, though, so Fred has a barer cupboard to work with rather than undervalued assets that fit into his system. Nebraska is hard to recruit to, too, obviously.
Man, I love coaching searches. The absolute crazy amount of theories and changes along the way make it fun. Whether the 'insider' info is ultimately true or not (and whose info is true for that matter), I do appreciate the nuggets, as (again) it makes it fun and a nice distraction.
I thank Solo for everything he's done and understand this season has been horrific and tough for him and the program, but last night I almost punched a wall after he literally stood there and watched his man miss a layup, get the rebound, and put it right back in.Solo mustered up 3 rebounds in the last 2 games. Sorry, that's not playing hard.
I'm actually excited / horrified by this happening. I could see a guy coming out of no where that we all are excited about, while I could also see us hiring a guy that we all go "wait what? F***."Exactly. It's the time when everyone feels they are more important and in-the-know than they really are. "My source this and my source that" only to have JP do something none of their "sources" saw coming.
Just my opinion, but I don’t think Fred is enough of a sure bet to say that.If Fred really wants to come back and donors are willing to step up to take care of the $$$ side of it without impacted Pollard's admittedly wounded budget... and JP refuses because of some spat with Fred over past grievances, ones that Fred has gotten over if he really wants to come back to Ames like that...
JP is asking to be fired. Just signed his own death warrant. Campbell or not.
I didn’t watch our last two games but I was at the previous two home games. And I will say that our guys played hard. They were diving for loose balls and really trying. I think that when those players are old like me and thinking about the god awful 20 game losing streak, they will at least be able to tell their kids they kept working.

There was a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes of that team that caused a lot of what happened on the court. That stuff going on was mostly due to 1 or 2 players (I'm not naming names). Fred allowed too much and it ended up hurting the team in the end.
They were not roommates, however one of them caused their roommate to fall to their level at times.Roommates, perhaps? That season seemed a perfect example of Bill Simmons’ theory that it’s ok to have one knucklehead on a team, but no more than one.
I remember my high school coach stressing to us the effort we had to put out on offense to "earn" good shot attempts - to increase our FG %.
Nebraska does not do this - they just jack up shots. Just because a shot is "open" does not mean it's a "good look."

If it's wide open, how is it not a good shot? Then only way it wouldn't be is if a low % shooter is taking the shot. Like, if Kelvin Cato was taking open threes, then yeah, that would be a bad shot. Players need to make open shots. At least 40-50% of them.
Nonsense like this is why Fred leaving after having some success in Ames will forever be a problem for the athletics department at ISU going forward.
People are just too emotionally tied up in the guy. Fred doesn't want to be your idol, dude.

Exactly. It's the time when everyone feels they are more important and in-the-know than they really are. "My source this and my source that" only to have JP do something none of their "sources" saw coming.
There was 1 play last night that was just complete trash by Solo. The ball bounced right next to him and he made 0 effort to get it, he should have sat the rest of the game.Solo mustered up 3 rebounds in the last 2 games. Sorry, that's not playing hard.
And people trying to water down the 4 year stretch that Fred had as "having some success" are making expectations seem unrealistic. Fred didn't just have "some success". He had 4 straight 20+ win seasons (most of all time), had a 28 win season (2nd most of all time), won 2 Big 12 Tournaments in a row (record), and brought in numerous players who are now in the NBA and/or should get their jerseys retired.Nonsense like this is why Fred leaving after having some success in Ames will forever be a problem for the athletics department at ISU going forward.
