Monte getting paid

Trading for Hampton on draft night didn't really give me much hope that Monte would stick in Denver but I'm glad he did. That's a great spot for him, I think he earned respect around the league for his play in the playoffs. This move solidifies the Nuggs as my favorite NBA team. Going to finally have to pull the trigger on the NBA league pass to watch the west coast games to catch the Cyclone Alums.

Extremely happy for him! $9mil a year was a good offer from Denver, where he clearly wants to be. Their boards think he may have gotten offered $10-$12 had he hit the open market.

Yep. But he apparently likes Denver and there is no shame in locking down $27 million a year ahead of your free agency year. Take $1-$2 mil per year "discount" to ensure you don't get injured in the coming year and prevent your big payday is smart.

I've always though Murray was more of a 2 guard anyway. Seems to me he'd be better off the point.

It's when Jokic is out that they actually need Monte the most to run a half court offense.

Jokic and Monte play together sometimes, but one of them is always playing.

If he keeps it up, and I think he will, over the next 3 years he could be looking at $20+MIL/year. Stats don't jump out but dude provides a ton of value and the NBA pays.

Let’s not forget the other $$$ he is making from endorsements. I’m not sure what ones he has but he def has some.

Do backups in the NBA get paid endorsements if they’re not big personalities? I honestly have no idea.
