The West Virginia game is HUGE

Here are some things we're playing for:

  • An 8-1 conference record and sole possession of first place
  • A spot in the Big 12 championship game and a chance at our first conference title since 1912
  • A spot in a NY6 bowl, potentially even if we were to lose the Big 12 championship game
  • A chance to finish ranked in the top five if we can win out
  • A outside shot at the playoff if some teams ahead of us get upset

ISU is continuing to come to those huge crossroads of where we are at as a program. From this point on, each game gets even bigger as we continue to win. Time to put up or shut up to show we belong.

I'll honestly just be thrilled if they're still at least in the B12 Title Game. Anything else is gravy. Especially this year.

1912...that is still crazy to me. Iowa State was bad for such a long time. Thank goodness for CMC and The Process.

The opportunity to finish 8-1 in a round-robin league, for the most conference wins in school history, can't be overstated. It means we win the regular season "title" regardless of what happens to any other school or how many more games they get in, or don't if Covid shortens their seasons.

Hell, for all we know Covid could get so bad the CCG ends up cancelled and we are awarded the title outright.

It's massive, and as I think about it, I'm actually more nervous for this game than I was for Texas.

Of course the West Virginia game is huge, but I’m more confident that ISU wins this one than I was about going on the road to Austin and leaving with a W.

This team isn’t going to give up, it may be an outside shot, but they know they aren’t eliminated from the playoffs yet. Iowa State and Oklahoma can move up even more before the title game is even played.

We are not losing this game. It's more important than the ccg simply because it's something you can control. No idea what tomorrow let alone next month holds?

Ya if ohio state can't get into their ccg it would be hard to put then in with four wins and no official conference title. Then a couple other teams losing and us winning out there's still a chance.
