Iowa State @ Texas

This is obvious. Go Cyclones.

Oklahoma @ West Virginia

We want West Virginia to win. If ISU beats Texas, we want Oklahoma to lose to avoid playing them again in the Big 12 championship game. A West Virginia win would also likely get our team's attention and help prevent a letdown against the Mountaineers if ISU already has a conference championship game appearance locked up. If Texas beats Iowa State, one path for ISU to still make the championship game would be if two out of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas pick up a third conference loss. Kansas State winning out against Baylor and Texas would be another path, as would TCU winning out against Kansas and Oklahoma State and Oklahoma State picking up an additional loss as well.

Texas Tech @ Oklahoma State

If Iowa State beats Texas, we want Oklahoma State to win to keep alive the possibility that we get a rematch with the Cowboys. If Texas beats Iowa State however, we want Texas Tech to pull the upset and for Texas or Oklahoma to lose again or for Oklahoma State to also lose the following week to TCU.

Kansas State @ Baylor

We want Kansas State to win. A K-State win eliminates the minute possibility that ISU could beat Texas and still miss the championship game if we lose to West Virginia. If ISU loses at Texas, one possible path for ISU to still make the championship game would be if KSU wins out against Baylor and Texas.

TCU @ Kansas

We want TCU to win. If ISU beats Texas this game doesn't matter, but if Texas wins, one possible championship game path for ISU would be TCU winning out against Kansas and Oklahoma State and Oklahoma State also dropping another game against either Texas Tech or Baylor.

If ISU beats Texas, I want Oklahoma so that I can wear my Big 12 Championship t-shirts with as much pride as possible!

Rearranging slightly...

Iowa State @ Texas

Go Cyclones. Exactly!

Buh bye, Tom Herman?

Texas Tech @ Oklahoma State

Unless OSU gets healthy, they’re going to have a hard time challenging anyone.

Kansas State @ Baylor

I dunno about you, but I want Baylor to win this one. The more Klieman is discredited and his players downspirited, the better to me.

The Bears will lose their share afterwards.

TCU @ Kansas

Why bother “rooting” when the outcome is inevitable?

Lastly...

Oklahoma @ West Virginia
Are you on crack?!!

If WVU beats OU, that means they’re good enough they have a good chance to beat us the next week! No, no, no...

Besides, I’d love for our guys to have a shot at beating OU twice in the same year. No doubt!

Do Oklahoma fan boards have threads about who they don't want to play in the Big 12 Championship game?

I get it, but you know, I'm starting to change my attitude and channelling my inner Matt Campbell. Championship teams beat the competition, including the best.

Technically we already beat Oklahoma. OSU is the team we haven't beaten, so shouldn't we want to play them again in the championship game with that mentality?

Also, we haven't won a real conference championship basically ever. I'm perfectly willing to backdoor one. We win 10 in a row like OU and sure, give me the best.

Oklahoma fans probably don't, but ISU hasn't won a conference championship since before the stop sign was invented. I want the easiest path possible.

With their injuries, OSU isn’t the team that it was when we played them.

Beating OU would boost us farther in the rankings than OSU. Go for the gold!

Good point. Somebody start a poll.

Would you rather beat Oklahoma twice or beat every team in the Big 12?

I'd rather beat Oklahoma twice!

Not that I care, but you know the Hokettes will chirp about who we beat in the Big 12 Championship game if its not Oklahoma.

I would rather be able to say we beat everybody in the league.

I'll post this here instead of making a separate thread on it.

ISU's Most Likely Paths to the Big 12 Championship Game if we lose to Texas

1. ISU beats West Virginia and Kansas State beats Baylor and Texas

2. ISU beats West Virginia and two out of Oklahoma, Texas, and Oklahoma State pick up a third conference loss

3. ISU beats West Virginia, TCU beats Kansas and Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma State also loses to either Texas Tech or Baylor

There may be other paths but these are the ones I see. I think we'll beat Texas but if we happen to lose, all is not necessarily lost.

Appreciate the info. It’s awesome that we’re in this position to discuss scenarios. I just want to beat Texas and the rest can unfold from there
