Urban Meyer to Texas??

Yeah, I agree -I recall they were very serious; like a brain tumor, or neurologic concerns. Hard to come back from that
Yeah think he has a cyst on his brain. Also he's one of these guys who is very high strung and works non-stop so after a few years his body is breaking down on him.

Cause Florida and tOSU were setup to succeed right away. He picked those spots because of that. Texas is not ready to win right now. It's a 3 year rebuild at least. Urban isn't interested 3 year rebuilds.
I agree and hope that’s the case. However, I guarantee that if enough $$$ get flashed in front of him, at the very least, he’s gonna take a long hard look.

Urban Meyer can get hired at Kansas and have a Big 12 title in 3 years. Besides always having a good offense and being a good program builder, he brings with him an almost annual top 10 recruiting class.

Him and Nick Saban are program proof when it comes to having success at this point in their careers. It doesn't matter where they coach, their reputation will get them at least a good share of the best players and they're good enough coaches that even before they get all of their players in the system they'll start having success.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he went there and if he did he would have them in the playoffs in year 3. I don’t like him, but he’s a great coach.

I actually think his arrogance and pride would work well at Texas, and it would be a good fit on both sides.

Meyer took a crap Bowling Green program ( was 2-9 year before he got there) and went like 17-6 his 2 years there and then lead Utah to a perfect season (22-2 overall record). Dude may be a bit of a prick but can flat-out coach.

Under Ron Zook (coach before Meyer), Florida went 8-5, 7-5, and 7-5. Urban went 9-3 his first year, won a national title, went 9-4, and then won another national title.

I think that's stretching it a little bit.

Ummm your memory is off

Meyer took over for Zook. Who went 8-5, 8-5, 7-5 from 2002-2004. Meyer took over and went 9-3 and the next year went 13-1

At Ohio State he was set up way better. However, they were unsure about what sanctions were coming down the line from the jersey selling stuff, the program was record wise in good shape but behind the scenes it was a complete disaster.

I would disagree on Texas being a 3 year rebuild. Their roster is filled with 4 star and 5 star players. They have the talent they just don't have direction or good coaching. Meyer would bring that and would continue to bring in top notch recruiting classes.

Meyer would win 9 games his first year and the following year would put Texas in the playoff.

We never see the best coaches do anything like that so we'll never know but I firmly believe coaches on his level (of which there's basically him and Saban right now) can get players anywhere. And once he has the players, what difference does it make whether the front of the jersey says Florida, Ohio State, Utah, Kansas, Washington, Rutgers, or Buffalo.

Not only that, Urb would be bringing talent with him from the jump. He'd lock down the state of Texas too.

Bad for us but I'd love to see it.

I'd be OK with Urban at UT, and I'd be OK if he won a natty and retired thereafter. Certainly wouldn't hurt the conference.

But that's just it, Urban would lock down the state of Texas immediately. Just like Snellenburger locked down Florida when he built Miami.

If you can do that (spoiler alert, Urban can) you can win a National Championship in 4 years.

I think it would be good for the conference if Meyer took Texas to a National Championship. The Big 12 needs some national cred in a big way. Right now we're the whipping boy of the SEC #1/Bama/Clemson

I don't doubt that he'd be able to rebuild KU and make them a contender / win the conference, I just think it'd be tough for him to do it in 3 years. They're absolute garbage and it would take a few years for Urban to build something there. Urban would have to prove his worth before he'd be able to pull 4/5 stars to Lawrence. Look at Les Miles. He's not as good of a coach as Urban, but he was incredibly successful at LSU and still had solid records when he left LSU, and he's struggled immensely so far. This quite possibly be the worst KU team in history.
