Just recently got a new phone that is 5G capable. I didn't really care that it was 5G capable when I bought it but I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with the speed.

Downtown Des Moines
5G
90.7 Mbps Down
30.5 Mbps Up

UPDATE!
I just walked a few blocks over where only 4G LTE was available and I got
131 Mbps Down
61.5 Mbps Up

What the hell? I've never seen LTE that fast. What's going on?

They probably increased the backhaul so people didn’t ***** about slow speeds with their new 5g phones. Win for LTE users.

My download speed on my iphone 8 went from ~20 to 80mbps. Upload is the same at around 10-15mbps. I'll take the increased speed! This also with verizon.

I've got it in Ames on iPhone 12. It's fast, but it drains my battery.

I'm waiting to upgrade to the iPhone 13 next year for this reason.

That is EXCELLENT to hear, because it's really, really noticeable. I do the iPhone upgrade program where you just lease a new one each year, so they mailed me a 12 on the day they shipped, so I will BE SURE to get a 13 now the minute they come out.

I was scrolling social media and such, not doing much intensive, on Saturday morning (which was after the first charge). I was just messing around for 30, 45 minutes, and it went down to 81% from 100% in that little time.

Speeds are really irrelevant imo for 5g, need to see the latency testing as thats supposed to be the big improvement over 4g

There are different bands of 5G, the nationwide 5G Verizon offers is slower than the very limited 5G that you can get outside in specific areas but it’s still 5G. I think it’s still faster than 4G, or at least it can be.
