I know, I just think its funny when people without kids jump in with their wisdom. I remember what it was like when I didn't have kids and knew everything about parenting too.
Of course almost every parent makes their kids eat what they make. It just sucks to have to threaten your kids with starvation and deal with sh!tty attitudes at the dinner table. I have four kids between the ages of 6 to 9, and trying to introduce a new meal into the rotation sucks b@lls!

Not gonna lie, that sounds terrible. There is so much negative peer pressure at that age.
Would they respond better if you made it a game? I used to do this trick when I would take care of my nieces and nephews. Have a "mystery bowl" covered in foil on the table. Inside could be peas, beets, strawberries (mix it up with something they want and something they don't. And then, "Last kid to finish their plate has to eat what's in the mystery bowl"
I worked for a non profit for 7 years that served an evening meal that served approximately 1500 kids over that time. I guess I haven't technically parented though. However the expectation for all 200 at a time was you ate what was served or you didn't eat and it worked fine. Elementary age kids will follow expectations if they are consistent and you enforce them uniformly.I know, I just think its funny when people without kids jump in with their wisdom. I used to have a great game to get my kids to eat lots of vegetables when they were little (maybe 3-6). Once they ate them all they got to punch me in the arm and I'd pretend like they had some incredible power building from the vegetables. Worked like a charm every time.
As you can imagine when my wife caught wind of that she banned it.
If you ever have your own kids, you will be amazed at how much better your kids will behave for other adults than they do for you, and it has nothing to do with how consistently you discipline them.I worked for a non profit for 7 years that served an evening meal that served approximately 1500 kids over that time. What very white very affluent school do your kids go to? Lol if you think this is true.If you ever have your own kids, you will be amazed at how much better your kids will behave for other adults than they do for you, and it has nothing to do with how consistently you discipline them.
That has zero to do with it. I'm not talking about school, I'm talking about how my children behave for other adults in all sorts of situations. I have confirmed this with other parents I know as well. As you have admitted, you would know nothing about this, but glad you could try to shoehorn white privilege into the conversation. What very white very affluent school do your kids go to? I don't like bananas. Dried or in banana bread is fine. The texture, taste, and smell, make me want to hurl. But I've probably had like 3-4 in the last couple of months. I have taken it slow, but am slowly overcoming my distain taste of them.
Kinda like overcoming a peanut allergy. Small little bits at a time and over time..... they can be tolerated.
Maybe this is why I refuse to eat Kraft Mac n Cheese. Seems we were force fed that every other day. One day with hot dogs cut up in it, the next plain. That orange cheese powder packet from hell!!
I never have...Biology experts...
Don't even carnivorous predator animals occasionally feel compelled to eat some grass or leaves?
Your morning dumps must make clanging sounds like Notre Dame Cathedral when they hit the bottom of the bowl. #ImpressedI never have...
You should take a video of you eating a banana and we can rate your technique...
And the cheese powder is what makes Kraft the best!

Always banana to mouth. Never mouth to banana.
