Darrell Simmons Jr sighting

At 6’3”? Not so much.

I suspect that true freshman Anthony Smith will be in the same mold. Played left tackle for their large class school in high school, both 6’3”, athletic and tenacious, neither one highly recruited.

Strange. It’s almost like CMC, Tom
Manning and Jeff Myers know what they’re doing.

Year 5 so I would HOPE so...

Darrell Simmons is a prime example of why we need to trust CMC's recruiting.

Nobody wanted him except for a handful of MAC teams and FCS teams. He's going to be a good one.

OL is the one position that it seems hard to foresee how good someone will be. Sure you can recruit big guys, but they have to be able to move, and they have to kind of have a mean streak, and most of all stay healthy.

I was position coach for one D1 OL recruit. He was 6'7 went to Iowa, supposedly the reason they offered was a tape that he made every tackle on kickoff coverage. I believe we kicked off 8 times that night.

Not sure if Iowa does this anymore, but for a while there they where taking HS TEs and turning them into very athletic OL.

I designed a couple blocking schemes to show off his athleticism. Lined up next to a 6' 210# OG that was a sprinter on the track team plus the TB went to state in the 100. We'd pull both of them from the play side, OT would hook around the TE and freight train down the field. Guard would pull to his outside shoulder, by the time they started running down hill it was scary.
