Friday OT #1 - Leave a Message And I'll Call You Back

iPhone. Only because I had gotten an iPod a long time ago and had built up a huge music library on iTunes.

I probably use my phone for music 70% of the time that I use it. 20% for just texting people, and the other 10% for photos. But mostly music.

My terrible addiction is buying music on iTunes. I know I need to just pay for a Spotify account, right? It is a horrible addiction of mine.

I used to be in the anti Apple camp but then wanted to try it out and had the 8+ for two and a half years and just switched back. I was getting tired of not having widgets... Ope a couple days after I switched they added widgets lol.

But I had one of the original Android phones didn't like it for a bit. The windows phone blew everything out of the water for me. If only the apps were there we wouldn't be in this two party system. I think snapchat turning down 100 million to just support windows phone was the nail in the coffin.

Anyway I just got this bad boy a week ago. It's amazing and I can do so much at once.

My first smartphone was an iPhone. I had a iPad at this time and a MacBook. I was a pretty big fanboy. When Steve Jobs died, my next phone was a Samsung smartphone and I got a Samsung tablet when my iPad broke. It was an easy transition to go from iOS to Android. The back button is probably the greatest thing ever. Unless Apple eventually developes a monopoly and becomes the only option I will not go back.
Still use a macbook at home, but honestly I hardly ever use a computer outside of work anymore.

I was on a fishing trip with my extended family this summer and my uncle wanted me to show him how to turn on the flashlight on his phone after my dad tried showing him how he uses siri to do that. uncle doesn't want the voice controlled turned on. I did all the things I could think of but didn't see the flishlight. I looked up how to do it on my phone shortly after, but he didn't care at this point. The flashlight function wasn't on my last iPhone or I never used it. When I pick up an ios device now I am surprised at how many things I have forgotten.

What I dispise about samsung now is the stupid Bixby assistant.

I got my current Pixel 2 XL two and a half years ago and it hasn't shown any signs of slowing down yet. The original battery still lasts all day with moderate use as well. As someone who's owned Androids and iPhones before, I think the Google setup seems to strike a good balance between the two and I'll probably be loyal to the Pixel line going forward assuming they don't royally screw things up on future models.

Another thing about my phone is it is grandfathered in to Altell's unlimited data plan. Whenever anyone in our family needs a new phone we buy the phone at face value and simply switch the sim cards. I was using the foxfi app to use my phone as a Hotspot for a long time and used my data for everything. 99% of the stuff I watch I stream so the amount of data i was using was insane. Same with my brothers. I don't think we were the only ones because Verizon made it very difficult to use the foxfi app a few years ago.

Started with Android but moved to Apple when it was what my work was using. I have since left that job but kept the iPhone streak. I really don't have a huge preference on them.

I have no idea what that means so I'm guessing no

It was a deal they were offering last year. Google Fi customers could buy a Pixel 4 and have 50% of the purchase price credited to your account. My monthly statements since then have all been $0. One more free month then I have to start paying again. It was a pretty sweet deal!

"call people"? Do I have to? this might be my least favorite feature of my phone.

Yeah me too but I have people in my life that don't do texting so it's necessary.

I'd rather text as far as general updates or whatever.

As far as a genuine conversation and communication goes, talking wins out every time though.

I have an iPhone and don't see a reason to change. Those Pixel phones look great though. I kind of get sick of the fighting and crap throwing between the two sides. They are both great. Both have pros and cons. If you are happy, that's all that matters.

I have a blackberry phone, why? Becuase its not Apple, Samsung, Google or LG hate following the crowd :)
Had it for 4 years.

Once I retire, I probably buy the cheapest thing out there I can find, I am the type that if I go out to dinner or go somewhere I leave the phone at home. At night I shut it off.

First "smart" phone was the Motorola Droid back in 08? Switched to an iPhone when the 4 came out and have been there ever since. Not a fanboy or anything, but I haven't ever had a reason to switch. Plus my work phone is an iPhone so it makes it easier to have the same OS.

Had a windows phone for work about 7 years ago and it was the absolute worst phone I've ever had. Period. Doesn't help that the project also bought the absolute cheapest physical phone that Verizon had at the time. Also had a bunch of first gen Surfaces there that were garbage as well. Whomever setup the IT on that job should have been fired.

I had the first and third generation pixel phones. I really enjoyed them. I then moved over to the iPhone because my wife has an unlimited data plan with sprint and a special came out to add a line for free. So I switched to iPhone as a result of that deal. Together, in total, we pay $63 per month. With that being said, I like the pixel better.

Android, right now I have an LG V30 that's about 2.5 years old. Works fine for what I need to do with it. Been looking at Pixels as my next phone, but it's nice not to have that monthly payment for a phone.

At one point, I carried 2 phones around, my Android and an iPhone for work. Lack of widgets and the way that iPhone just spews the apps on the main screen in no sort of order just made me not like them at all. Battery life was great, so there was that I guess.
