Margins?

This thread is sobering. We're nowhere near where we thought we were as a program just a handful of months ago.

I think we're exactly where some of us thought they were. They've struggled on offense at times for a long time. We've been about 0.500 for some time and struggled with UNI last year. I mean anything else is just the usual hopium.

There are lots of coaches out there on the West Coast and a few in the Midwest that would really love to be playing football right now. Might be a good opportunity. Plus the Pac-XII at least may have some real problems matching decent offers.

What else are you expecting him to say on record in front of a camera? He has to give lame coach speak answers. He can't blow up and blame poor coaching moves or poor player execution. That will murder recruiting.

agree...the issue is that sports are emotional and we, as a fanbase, want nothing more than to believe everything we hear, especially from the leader, so we hear what we want. What I learned, and then forgot since CPR left, was that until we see results, even CMC is only using words. Paul did the same things. Everyone would have run through a wall for him but that doesn't do it. I believe there's effort and I believe there's desire...it all sounds great but results have to be there...and frankly, they aren't.

There is absolutely no excuse for our play on Saturday and I blame the coaching.

Before we worry about margins, we need to tackle on special teams. There can’t be many teams to have a KO and Punt returned for TD’s against them in the same game. (Heck, that doesn’t even happen often in the same season)

Honesty, what probably bother me more than the two special team td's is the fact that every other flipping P5 school has a kicker that can drive the ball deep into the end zone and take the entire damn play out of the equation. That is absolutely maddening to me!

A stretch that includes @Oklahoma, @K State, and Notre Dame? I want to win, but am not surprised we have a losing record through that stretch. Should have beaten Okie State.

Losing Saturday sucks. Everybody is already cranky and it was a piss poor showing. But the staff has shown they can get it together. It's a new season and am willing to wait before I meltdown.
Should have beaten Okie St.
Should have beaten K-State.
Should have beaten Louisiana.
Didn't show up against Notre Dame (or Louisiana).

You hang in there 07, I see a concerning trend and a coach that talks a great game.

I'll remain calm. Thanks.

I didn't realize the overall record actually.

That's kinda scary.

One coach took over a tire fire and the other inherited a team that was coming off a couple pretty solid recruiting classes... Comparing records over a selected time frame is pretty silly since the situations are completely different.

And CPR's teams played in a much tougher B12, when K-State, Baylor, Texas Tech and TCU were all Top 15 caliber teams...

I like Campbell, but I'm not sure the gap between what we see now and what we saw with CPR is as big as people may think. I think the level of competition has changed, though.

Give me a call when Iowa State starts losing games 71-7... If you can't see the difference between those years and now you aren't even trying.

Well - I am not sure I have the courage, but I may need to rewatch this game. I did not see many drops. What I did see was them covering us like a blanket. Give credit where credit is due. Their DB’s were way to quick for us to handle - we could not get open. They made a lot of really good plays. Plus, Purdy was not sharp.

LA's man to man coverage is being blown out of proportion. Purdy was off all day and was throwing behind his receivers or just flat out missing. Their were numerous "drops" or breakups that occurred because Purdy was off target and the trailing defender was able to gain a step or two. Brock throwing the ball 10 yards over Akers head when he had his guy absolutely burnt was the day in a nutshell.

CMC has better talent and he's playing in a weaker B12.

For example there were four B12 teams that won 10+ games in 2010, 2011, and 2015; that has happened 0 times during CMC's time here. That is unfortunately hard to ignore.

That was also when we played 4 non cons, 8 conference games, and a garbage Big 12 North.... FFS some of you guys have a really short memory.

I'd hate to think Iowa State has ruined another coach. It really must be too hard to win here. K State and Kansas have had blips of success due to being slightly closer to high level talent. We just are too isolated and barren. The last resort for any talented recruit. It is very sobering to be so woke to this fact.

Don't forget the airport excuse.....

For the 10,000th time, we are not trying to get touch backs!!!!!!! We are trying to make them catch it between the 5 and the goal line in one of the corners. With the exception of Saturday this strategy has worked pretty good.

C'mon... Compare each CMC loss with each CPR loss.
