Depth Chart 2020

cautiously optimistic about wide outs, still nothing proven that we have a 3rd down receiver
cautiously optimistic we have a true threat backup rb, really need kene to have a big year
uwazurike at DT, heard rumblings but to see it on the depth chart is interesting

I wasn’t surprised to see Eisworth listed at SS instead of Star. Less wear and tear on that shoulder. Isheem Young can be the beast.

Anyone else notice the depth chart has Isheem at 5’10” 208 instead of the 200 lbs on the roster?

We can go 12 personal in the red-zone with two 6'6" TE's plus Sean Shaw who is 6'6" and Xavier Hutchinson at 6'3". That is a lot of size and skill for cb's to cover. Louisiana has 2 starters in the defensive backfield that are listed at 5'9"

13 personal you can add a 6'7" Soehner to have 4 guys at or above 6'6"

height is one thing we have definitely gone after recently and it is awesome.

I appreciate that you are also on Team #FreeMikeRose.

We’re just a more solid defense with him in the middle. That sucks for Vance, but it is what it is. I’ll take less sacks and pressure for better coverage and organization in the middle.

Also another note: I really hope TJ Tampa works out at CB. Great size there.
The problem with #FreeMikeRose is that freshman year Mike Rose had Willie Harvey and Marcel Spears to be in between. The defense is weaker with Rose in the middle because of who his replacement would be (and because Vance is a baller in his own right).

Didn't make sense to me when one is an All-American.
Pactically, Easton will receive the least snaps of the three, so I get you. But maybe the "OR" says more about him than it does Charlie. We all remember how Campbell hyped him up last year.

I think people are looking too much into the “ors” especially in the o-line. The offensive line come Saturday will be the players listed first on the depth chart. imo

I'm not so sure about that. I guess we'll see. A lot of reports had Newell at guard and Schweiger at center..... but who knows??

The lineup I saw suggested back in the Spring—apparently filtering from the coaching staff—was simply Vance to Will and Hummel sliding to Sam. So, where’s the weak spot with Rose at Mike?

I’m not sure about this.

I suspect that Grant Treiber is the long term solution at LT. If you start Sean Foster there against Louisiana for his collection of starts and senior status, and as a reward for working hard—both of which would be a very Matt Campbell thing to do—then where do you give Grant his first start?

On the road against TCU doesn’t seem great, nor does at home against OU. I think that CMC is going to have a tough decision on that one.

As with basketball.... it doesn't really matter who starts.... it matters who plays the most minutes. Foster could start, but then Treiber gets the majority of minutes.

I am looking forward to seeing what Foster can do. Guy has a reputation for not doing all he could be doing up until this year. Maybe he is locked in for his senior year, and has improved his footwork. Either way, it is good that there is at least some competition for the OL spots. CMC's first year they were just trying to find guys that looked like OL.

If it was originally the staff's idea, there must be a reason it's not being implemented. Perhaps Vance is even less natural than Rose on the outside, I wouldn't know.

In any case, I don't feel like linebacking was the issue last year. Getting a pass rush, and the pass coverage of the safeties seemed the worst. It also didn't help the linebackers that the corners were bad at setting the edge. I'm still worried about the secondary, hoping that another year of experience and a healthy Jaquan Bailey does the trick.

Having a health Elsworth is probably the biggest key for the defense. Guy is just such an eraser out there.

Hoping that Will McDonald is a nightmare for teams this year. He was so impressive against TX last year. He was getting held so bad it was insane.

It's kinda scary seeing how small our safeties are. Particularly the backups (King and Miller). The lack of depth at LB is also scary. I was a bit worried about the d-line at the end of last season, after losing Jamahl, Lima and Leo, but I really like the players on the two-deeps that are listed. I absolutely love seeing T.J. Tampa and Daniel Jackson on the list. And Easton Dean, assuming he ends up being as good as we have heard he will be.
