Iowa State to Wear Jack Trice Patch

These are awesome. Maybe ESPN will actually have the cojones to give the story the attention it deserves, unlike during Gameday last year. Sept. 12 is as good a chance as any for them.
I'd like that as a sticker for my car. No hok fan would know what it means and I wouldn't have to worry about the car getting vandalized.

Nice and subtle touch to the jerseys and will be a nice talking point for broadcasters.
Definitely better than those ugly throwbacks that we wore for the Iowa game awhile back. Those were terrible.

Me too! I'd put it on my current motorcycle vest. My old one had the I-State, actually had a friend from high school spot me 150mi from home based solely on that patch. Got a football Cy from the 70s or 80s waiting to go on now and would love to add a Trice patch!
I was literally about to type that I need this for my car. I would put it right next to my I-State sticker. Really anything with this on it I would buy. Would be awesome to wear it around Phoenix and get reactions from other ISU fans I come across.

I am wondering if ISU had to get permission from the B12 and/or NCCA to do this? The reason I say this is that I thought (don't know for sure) that each team can only put one official school logo on both jersey and pant. There had to be some kind of exception made here? Even though it is not a school logo (yet).
The Trice-era logo is not anything official-ISU yet, nor is it related to a recent death (in-honor-of kind of thing). I suspect an obvious reason it was applied for and OK'd now is due to the current social climate, equal rights, etc. And rightfully so! Better late than never.

As you said, it's not an official school logo -- so that doesn't apply.
Memorial patches are allowed. That's what this would qualify as.

Agreed. I was just wondering out loud a little bit. Still not sure how a school needs to apply for a memorial patch, even though I don't think this applies 90+ years later.

The stripes are symbolizing the jerseys that were worn by Iowa State College when Jack played

If I'm not mistaken, these are not mere decoration. They are grip strips so that teammates can grab and pull you along.

Wondering if/when there will be official acknowledgement of Jack Trice's #37. The memorial patch is a good step forward.
