Will the BIG10 Reverse Their Decision?

Society has lost the ability to tell the difference between a news report and an editorial or an opinion from someone what also reports the news. Anyone that throws all of “media” into the trash generally falls into this category. CBS, NBC, NYT, and evening Fox have both reporting AND editorial and entertainment. People would be happier if they could recognize the difference.

Journalism has also stopped keeping those things (reporting and editorializing) separate, so it's naturally becoming harder for consumers to separate the two.

I've noticed it quite a bit in sports coverage. There used to be a clear line of demarcation -- game recap on one side, column on the other. Now, those two elements are being mashed together into one "story."

I don't need writers putting their thoughts and hot takes about the game in the recap. That's the purpose of a column.

UNC (North carolina) is rumored to be closing its campus, ACC member. Student health has reported an increase in cases from 2% to 14% over the last week. Students renting airbnb for parties. In NYT. Sending all undergrads home, without refunds

See, I hate this statement. It completely oversimplifies it.

I genuinely don't think Jamie Pollard or Bob Bowlsby or Greg Sankey or whoever else are trying to line their pockets. These guys have more money than they'd ever need. Not playing football would have significant ramifications on many, many people other than that. There are programs that would be cut. There are scholarships kids would not receive in the future. There are jobs that would be lost. There are local businesses that would suffer. There are kids that will not have a chance to show they can play professionally. Let's not act like billions in revenue can be lost and the only people that would feel it are the ADs and Commissioners.

I can appreciate the play/don't play debate from a medical standpoint. That's fine. But quit acting like this is all being done to make some administrators rich.

My business depends on movie theaters and theme parks being open and people feeling safe there.

The theaters in South Korea, Austria, Germany, Canada and countless other countries that did things right are back open and safe now.

We uniquely F'd it up. The big money making play was a hard shutdown until it was actually under control, not just reopening at the very first plateau. What we did royally F'd our economy.

It sucks Canada can sell my products now (and they're selling like crazy) but America's failure has our domestic profits at a teeny tiny spec of dust compared to other countries around the globe.

I'm not sure what any of this has to do with the post you quoted and I'm not sure the purpose of this post in a thread about college football.

But in any event, sorry to hear that about your job.

Long story short, I have a bad feeling that the Big 10 is going to come out of all of this smelling like a rose...

After seeing the UNC news and the pictures out of Ames (that could be any college town in the United States) I had exactly the same thought.

My source (UNC grad) doesnt know, but she can't imagine the school doing sports with nostudents and parents footing the bill for their kids being sent home?

Not sure what the rules are. If athletes are fine I’m assuming they’ll keep trying to play. I did hear that New York schools and BC did not want to play but looks like that was wrong.

I'd imagine most football players don't live in on-campus housing, right?
You never know. Technically there are "on campus" housing / apartment units that are owned by the schools, but who knows where those guys live.

The idea that opening thing automatically saves profits and saves jobs. It didn't, it screwed us.

What other wealthy countries did saved jobs and profits (without even getting into lives), they're getting close to back to normal life.

Maybe we're so far into it now and so failed that we have no means to contain. All I know is that the big mask free opening at the beginning of summer did the hard opposite of saving jobs.

Not good news if you are the MSU AD and/or the big ten commish.
Yeah no kidding. Not sure if anyone else saw the article I posted above, but an attorney said Justin Fields' petition could make a difference. And the Minnesota President along with the PSU AD came out and said they never had a final vote for the conference.
