Massive explosion in Beirut

Another angle about 100 meters from the warehouse.

Fireworks or small munitions clearly going off prior to the big explosion.

I’d say munitions. You can see the fire start to get really big for a sec and then the big explosion.

While conventional, that easily hits the 1 kiloton range...maybe slightly higher. For information purposes, the Hiroshima bomb was at 15 kilotons.

Fireworks? That's the best they could come up with? Did they ask my 12 year old to come up with a cover story on the spot for this?

We only get Lebanese fireworks during the 4th. Great stuff. Obviously.

Geez people, there will be plenty of morons taking cell phone videos, get the hell out of there, or at least inside.

Was listening to a news report on the way back from lunch on XM and they said the explosion could be heard from Cyprus, an island nation 140 miles away. The smoke column could be seen from Damascus, Syria, over 50 miles away.

Remember the TNT shred explosion in Des Moines back in the 80's much smaller but they heard that in Webster City.

I guarantee my dad is furiously searching online to get a hold of some of these as we speak.

Come to Curt's Fireworks Stand home of the original Lebanese fireworks. We are the only stand in American that sells them.
