NBA Draft Combine Invite List

I also think that playing in Europe is just as reasonable of route to the NBA as playing another year in CBB. Go put up big numbers in Europe for a few years and there's a chance at an NBA spot. Put up another big year in CBB-- not sure that gets him anywhere.

I would turn down a combine invite if he gets one if I was him. I think his slow feet would get even more exposed. He is peaked, can only go down

Yeah, his value is probably as high as it can get after last season. Let the tape speak for him unless he’s 100% he will improve his value by playing
He had a terrific season. He really did surprise me how much better he had gotten and isn’t a jackass even though he plays for Fran

IMO Garza’s elite length is offset by lack of explosive athleticism and lateral quickness. While be shot better from 3 this year, his college career numbers, particularly FT%, don’t necessarily project him as a great shooter in the NBA. IMO he projects as a broke man’s Brook Lopez. It’s possible he gets drafted, but the paycheck is in Europe.

Garza doesn't have elite length. He only has a 7 foot wingspan

I don't know. People said the same thing about Niang, but he still improved his senior year and turned himself into a draftable player. Now it looks like he will have a solid NBA career.

I felt semi comfortable with niang handling the ball and driving from 3. I wouldn’t want Garza driving or handling the ball.

There are plenty of un-athletic centers. Both Gasol brothers, Jokic, hell even Tim Duncan. If Garza can provide enough offensively, his defense wont matter. He's not being drafted or signed as a defensive center or PF. His NBA chances lie in his ability to rebound, score and shoot from the outside.
I dont think the Gasol brothers were unathletic. I thought they had some nice moves actually.

I dont know who I'd compare Luka to honestly. A slightly bigger Nick Collison?

Yeah, but they play different positions. Garza doesn't need to handle the ball, or be able to drive to score in the NBA.

If he can improve his 3P shooting, a ceiling of a poor man's Myers Leonard perhaps

There most likely won’t be a college basketball season this year, so he’d be smart to leave now IMO.

Seeing quite a few players returning to college or staying in the draft today.
NCAA deadline is Monday to return and remain eligible for college.

It was discussed in another thread, but the NBA deadline is August 17th. So you could see guys "return to school" before Monday, and then declare for the draft (for good) on August 17th.

This scenario is actually playing out today. Isaiah Joe (Arkansas) returned to school on 8/3 but is now entering the draft for good.
Will be interesting to see if others follow.

Today is the last day college players can change their minds and declare for the NBA draft per the league (previous one was for the NCAA). haven't seen any signals from EIU but the clock is still ticking.
