NBA Draft Combine Invite List

If they want him to return next year that’s probably not a good news for them.
He is as good as gone. Weeping and gnashing of teeth in Iowa City, meanwhile Frank gets a sweet pay day in a couple months once Luka signs a 6 figure salary to play in new Zealand

In before hawk troll points out that Garza is higher on the list than Haliburton.

I mean yeah I’m sure they will point it out thinking he is higher thinking he’s a better talent but L does come before T in the alphabet but I would imagine a good chunk of them would struggle with that lol.

I just don't get the thinking that Garza is a sure thing to make big money.

That is just potential invitees. I think they usually have 60-70 players invited. But I did see recently that some think Garza could get an invite and if he does, that definitely isn't good news for Iowa.

It was confirmed over the weekend that he did indeed receive an official invite to the combine.

I think they usually send out almost like a you are in the running list and then they send out invites for official invitees and then if some don't participate they bring in people off the first list. I am pretty sure he just made the first cut.

I imagine ol' Frankie wasn't too pleased with Garza saying he was coming back unless he had a guaranteed NBA spot. Frank was on record saying he had a good European deal on the table, and I'd venture to guess that's the route he goes. There's no value in coming back, especially with things as "up in the air" as they are now with basketball this winter.

Yeah, if I was him and had a good Euro offer, i would definitely take it over possibly not even playing this year or only playing a partial year. I don't think there is any way he can top the season he just had and his measurables aren't getting any better.

Only reason to come back is if you just really love college and want even just a chance at a Senior year.

Garza is a pretty good fit for today's NBA: he's big, he plays hard, he can rebound, and he can shoot from long distance. The guy is annoying but he's an NBA player in my view.

I could see him carving out a role as a bench player but he will be abused on the pick and roll on defense so I think he'd have to be hidden from too many minutes. Nothing against him, amazing college player as hard as it is to admit, but the NBA's athleticism is next level and they will attack that each possession. But with where we are with this virus, I think the smart play has to be jumping to the NBA for him.

IMO Garza’s elite length is offset by lack of explosive athleticism and lateral quickness. While be shot better from 3 this year, his college career numbers, particularly FT%, don’t necessarily project him as a great shooter in the NBA. IMO he projects as a broke man’s Brook Lopez. It’s possible he gets drafted, but the paycheck is in Europe.

I also think that playing in Europe is just as reasonable of route to the NBA as playing another year in CBB. Go put up big numbers in Europe for a few years and there's a chance at an NBA spot. Put up another big year in CBB-- not sure that gets him anywhere.

There are plenty of un-athletic centers. Both Gasol brothers, Jokic, hell even Tim Duncan. If Garza can provide enough offensively, his defense wont matter. He's not being drafted or signed as a defensive center or PF. His NBA chances lie in his ability to rebound, score and shoot from the outside.
