The fighting Surly's suspend football for two weeks

They should just schedule football to start in mid November since that is when all talk of covid will fade entirely.

I continue to believe that we'll see a spring football season. By then big pharma will have provided a vaccine and all will be back to normal. Spring football mixed with "the dance" or no hoops at all, I'm not sure. But football will be played, just on a different calendar.

What happens if they play football in the spring? Is there a football season that same year in the fall, or would spring become the new normal?

You realize there's no guarantee we'll ever find a vaccine, right? And if we do, it could take years, and not 6 months like Trump believes.

I'm not saying we won't have a vaccine by the end of the year like Trump says, but it's probably well below 50% chance of that happening.

I just don't see how we have football this fall.... and if they do... how can you have fans there.... other than maybe just family and a few friends of players and coaches.

When do you think we will have football?

When do you think we will have football?

No flippin' clue.

Let me ask everyone a simple question though.... do you think more or less players will be testing positive for Covid two months from now??

I feel like it's going to be quite a bit more in two months, and I think the cases overall throughout the country will be higher by then as well.

I REALLY hope I'm dead wrong... but I trust science more than what Trump tells me... unlike some.

Not sure why anyone would look to Trump for medical advice. I'd rely on articles and reports from medical professionals rather than quote Trump, Biden, Cuomo, Pelosi or ANY politician.

I'd guess next fall if things keep going this route and the only hope right now for this year is it wanes in mortality/severity or a legit early treatment is established.

All indications are that vaccine trials are going well albeit rushed...they didn't have one for the O.G. SARS but it was coming along before the disease dissolved and did I read that they have coronavirus vaccines for animals? Obviously that's not the same as humans but it doesn't make it impossible either.

Schools and teams that have a lot of cases now will have fewer in two months. Teams that aren’t meeting yet will have more. The idea that large swaths of people are going to avoid getting the virus altogether is fantasy. There are lots of good reasons to keep gatherings small, wear masks, etc. to draw this out and slow it down. None of which is because in a couple months we are going to have something that resembles business as usual while also having most people avoiding contracting the virus. There won’t be a vaccine anytime soon. There might be treatments that help. The virus might become less deadly over time.

Well only one of those guys said it will just disappear in the summer. That's probably what he was getting at.

JP liked this article. Has a nice basis for having all kids back...

JP retweeted this article and while it's an OpEd it seems to have some support for why opening campus is the right thing to do.

I'm still trying to read it from the first time you posted it.

Johnson&Johnson is in advanced stages of vaccine development. My guess is they'll have one by the end of the year.

After a COVID-19 vaccine deal between four European countries and AstraZeneca, another pharma giant is reportedly in advanced talks to supply its candidate in Europe should it prove safe and effective.

Johnson & Johnson is negotiating with the European Commission to supply its coronavirus vaccine candidate if it succeeds in testing, Reuters reports. The drugmaker plans to start a phase 1/2a test next month under an accelerated timeline unveiled last week.

Beyond that, the company is involved in Operation Warp Speed in the U.S., where officials plan to start late-stage testing for the candidate in September, The Wall Street Journal has reported.

The virus isn't deadly now. It's a complete and total farce created by the govt aimed at the general public to make us fearful and complacent. Society is unraveling by the day for something that is of less real concern than so many other things that have plagued mankind for thousands of years. I'm fed up with it, but know it won't go away until Trump is out of the white house, and it will be at the expense of football season as it has ruined both baseball and basketball already.

Well that is certainly a take.
