Not exactly sure.
I doubt the state will have the money to pay teachers/staff for the extra month.

If I was a school admin, I would be finding cut spots right now. Remember 10-15 years ago when the governor did a across the board cut of 10% late in the year? If that doesn't happen this year (think the savings will hold that off), then there will be cuts for next year.

The death rate is going to end up being less than half of a percent when this is over with. Hopefully Iowa starts to open back up in a couple of weeks.

the death rate is low because of what we are doing. How obtuse can you be?

I’m staying home. Been home since spring break. Just following the doctors other than Dr Fouci who has completely missed on his assertions. And yes I know someone who had it; had a cough and has since recovered.

So... how is what you are doing different than the "fear mongers" you are attacking?

That won't happen. I could see some schools (smaller ones maybe) doing graduation ceremonies this summer though.

We got an email today that said the school is trying to plan Graduation, Prom and the Senior trip for later this summer. We will be continuing the online enrichment classes until the last day of school May 20th.
The board will be meeting Monday to determine if we are starting the school year earlier this fall.
Really not sure how that is going to work at the high school level, since the kids will be in different classes, unless we are going to use those 3 weeks to finish up this school year classes, and then move to the new classes when the regular date rolls around.

No, the hospitals aren't being overrun because of what we are doing. Iowa hospitals are in good shape for this right now.

Most people who get infected don't even have symptoms worse than a cold. They don't even go to the doctor, let alone need to be hospitalized. Way more people are infected, or have been infected that what is being reported.

On CNN they are saying we are one of the states that may need social distancing in place through end of July.

Devastatingly damning considering Reynolds spent the last part of today's press conference imploring people to hold on for just two more weeks. That model says June 29, and that is with extensive testing, contact tracing, etc. which - let's just put this generously - seems unlikely to happen.

I speculated yesterday that Reynolds turned down the invitation to join Wisconsin, Illinois, et al because she didn't want to be embarrassed when we lagged so far behind their progress, and welp:

Listened to black hawk county press conference. They are pissed. We’ve got a big mess on our hands with Tyson’s. They don’t think the governor is acting in good faith when it relates to Tyson’s.

According to this the estimated Iowa deaths will be just over 600. (keeping social distances through end of June)
3.1 million people in Iowa. I guess that is success? At least doesn't sound super scary?
Minnesota with almost 6 million, estimates less than 200 deaths.
South Korea with 51 Million people report 230 deaths per the John Hopkins site.

Yeah I still don't get how those projections come up. WI's at basically 200 now and still only projected at 300.

And Iowa literally can't stay put through June. Wonder if they're taking the factory breakouts into their consideration.
