Land O Lakes changing "Racist" packaging

Previous owner of LandOLakes, Dean Foods, filed bankruptcy in 2019. In 2020, Dairy Farmers of America bought most of Dean. Must be time for the new management to refresh the image and get some free pub.

Love the Aunt Jamima mix. Used to buy it every week. Then one of my kids asked why we keep buying racist pancake mix. Switched to the hungry jack. Not as good :(
I know it's hard but you did the right thing. I, for one, am proud of you so you have that going for you.

Speaking of Seinfeld, this entire thread made me smile because just about an hour ago I watched the episode where Jerry's dentist became Jewish and thought it was OK to start telling Jewish jokes. Of course Jerry tells a dentist joke and everyone gets offended and he is accused of being an anti-dentite. That show could take any topic, no matter how taboo, and make it funny.

Wow, has anyone ever stopped to think that when a company chooses a logo or a sports team chooses a mascot it is something they respect and are proud of?
I doubt LOL said "Let's make fun of Native Americans by putting one on our flagship product".

If I were a Native American I'd feel flattered. Right after I negotiated a licensing agreement.

Yes, because Native Americans have such a good history making deals with white guys.

I didnt even think of that. Brilliant! **** maybe if we stir up enough hell and start "Hawkeye State is racist" campaign we could get it changed. Could even use the ANF organizers for good use
Until Oklahomans get pissy and offended at us being the Cyclone state.

Is it racist if she's adding diversity to my breakfast?

This is a Minnesota based company. Why are they getting milk from California? Isn't Wisconsin right next door? Sure, the Wisconsin stuff is probably 40 proof but it's still America's Dairyland.

Hey! I live in WI and--never mind.

You're probably right.

And Bryan Cranston (Walter White) played the dentist!

I don't see anything wrong with their label but I also could care less what is on the packing of my butter. My opinion really doesn't matter though, my wife doesn't let me pick out the butter, we go with what she likes and let me tell you, I definitely CAN believe it's not butter.

Saddest part is our Native American culture used to be prominent. It was one money, city names, sports, etc. Now we just want to rid of all of it. We should be going the opposite way. Keeping it and making it more a part of our culture. There are things we could learn from the Native Americans who were here before us. That seems much better than eliminating them from all common culture.

I love reading and learning about Native American culture. I get that calling a sports team the Redskins is a problem. But, wiping out reference to their culture that is shown in a positive light is anti-progressive. I love seeing city/towns and roads named after native tribes or people.

"Native American forced off butter packaging to make room for white farmers" actually makes the change sound more racist than leaving it alone.

But the only thing I know about the intersectionality gambit is that it's better if you don't play. So your mileage may vary.

Read up on the battle of Florida State using the Seminoles. Their biggest supporters are the local tribe.
