It’s almost like these recruits realize that we’ve finished last or second to last in the Big 12 2 of the past 3 years.

Add in they can’t visit Ames, see the practice facility and Hilton, etc. This is what we get.

And they research social media to see the level of support they’ll get here

See @rochclone, this is actually an example of a straw man.

I don't think you know what a strawman is. Your argument is that kids look at what fans say about players. If that was the case, places like Kentucky and some of the blue bloods wouldn't get guys. Those guys have even more rabid fans and they say things about players and their coach even though they win every year. Yet you are acting like kids are not coming here because some fans said some crap on a message board. That is just flat out dumb and wrong.

Wait, you’re saying I don’t understand what a straw man argument is, yet you just typed an entire post full of straw men

Please link me to the post where someone was happy that Hilton wasn’t full. I’ll wait.
I have no dog in this particular fight, but I did challenge those “fans” who said the best thing you could do was not go to games and not buy tickets. Supposedly that would get Jamie’s attention.

Anyone remember NWB stats when he was a freshman at Arkansas?
.7 Pts .8 Reb .5 Ast
Sometimes stats aren't everything... A change of system and culture can help

...And there were a lot of posters who didn't want NWB when he came to Ames due to those stats, even going as far as he was only a take because of C Babb legacy. (some definite similarities there w the Toppin) He was all potential and it worked out for ISU, could with Jared too.
With 4 schollys open ISU has room for a high upside wing to develop, he essentially takes Leech's spot in that context.
Jared has the added benefit of getting 18min vs A10 competition and Obi's advise to know where/how to improve and could be an impact player early. nothing is guaranteed in recruiting but this is a chance worth taking.

This is what you’re reduced to?

If everyone was relishing how empty the arena was then it shouldn’t be hard for you to find a post saying it. The problem for you Cat is that you just throw stuff against the board with absolutely no evidence to support it.

Herein lies the issue with Prohm's tenuous job security. Toppin would be a great add, and is a no brainer. But in all likelihood, he does nothing to make us better next year.

If I remember correctly that was an issue with renewing season tickets. Making a decision to not support the product because it’s not worth the financial investment seems a bit different then jumping up and down with happiness if you have 8,000 people in the stands.
Maybe I’m wrong but I know some of these people involved in this argument don’t even invest in season tickets or the Cyclone Club.

It was a lot easier to convince myself to not go to games this year despite having tickets. I never relished in it. If anything I was in awe that prohm and co was able to get some of the most loyal fans in the country to stay home on a Saturday afternoon.
Also, are we just supposed to stop being fans because potential recruits might read something on the Internet? Get out of here with that BS. This is a fan site and we participate in talk same as all fanbases.

I don't know if I would classify those fans as "happy" it wasn't full....but no doubt would have no problem with it being empty if it meant the demise of Steve Prohm. Most of those also say 19 wins next year with a young team isn't good enough if they don't make the tourney. The narrative is already being set forth for failure. Maybe they don't know it...or do and just don't want to admit it. Either way....with social media being the main way to correspond....it isn't a good look.

I don’t believe he has a one year clock but rather a two year clock. Winning right away at this point is going to be difficult. If he stocks the cupboard with sit outs and then the 4 freshmen show promise then he can be all-in on 2021-22.
The easiest path for Iowa State to become successful again is with Prohm and this freshmen recruiting class. But he has to do it by massive development of some of these young guys because I think we are at a disadvantage in game-day coaching 60-70% of the time within the conference.
