DeJulius Thread: What I'm hearing

Exactly. We have four open scholarships. One domino at a time. A former top 100 recruit and Michigan signee is a great piece.
Yes and other P5 schools are highly interested in him as well, meaning he definitely shows potential. If we land him and he ends up being eligible right away, we very well could have our starting 5 set..

DeJulius
Bolton
Blackwell/Dubar
Johnson
Solomon

Every damn basketball thread turns into a prohm bash fest. We know he's struggling and we know he won't be fired next year so just continue to beat that dead horse!

This X 100. I hate to even open a basketball thread anymore. And it's the same people with the same tired takes. Does if EVER get old?

Looks like an Isle of Man TT.

So did we get him or not?

I am going to take the optimistic approach here. Sure we have lost out on some solid players that would have helped ISU win more games next year. But IMO none really addressed our most pressing need- a floor general who is a strong assist guy. Gomez averaged around 3 apg, Justin Turner 2.7 apg and Bryce Aiken 2.7 apg.

DeJulius may not be the floor general either, as he wasn't a big assist guy in his limited minutes. But his assist/turnover ratio was 2.35 to 1 and no way he was going to get much of an opportunity with Zavier Simpson running the offense.

The other guy that Chris Williams keeps expressing optimism about is PJ Walker. He may not be a pure PG, but seems to take care of the ball and shot around 49% from 2pt and 40% from 3pt.

Lastly, this could be a long summer from a recruiting standpoint. There could be a huge 2nd wave of transfer portal guys if the NCAA rules for transfers being immediately eligible.

Yeah, that is the Black Swan event on top of the Black Swam event.

Having space at that point could be a huge asset instead of a liability.

I'm not taking away anything you just said because I agree with all of it, just would like to mention that I hate that Zavier Simpson's parents decided to spell his name that way.

I’m going to say this. We are not a ton of players away. It’s basketball. One to two guys with a decent core and some young talented freshman could be enough. We get this kid and a few others and we could easily be in business.

Yeah, that is the thing about basketball. It can swing so easily on 1-2 guys. You are way more what your stars say you are, and two studs with a mediocre supporting cast can still make a deep run in March and accomplish a lot in the meantime.

It is not like football, where you have to build up talent, experience, and depth across your roster, and especially on the lines, if you want to compete at the highest levels. One good guard can remake a college basketball team very quickly.

One good quarterback is running for his life if his offensive line sucks.

Is there a particular reason why we were immediately linked to DeJulius? Did Kane recruit him out of high school or something?
