Toilet Paper

This makes sense. Seems to me though, that this run on TP started even before places started shutting down. I've been working from home for 3 weeks now, and it seems like the frenzy started 3 weeks before that even.

I want to say Costco started rationing TP purchases per customer the week going into spring break. That was when things started to get crazy shopping wise.

The wife and I started rationing ours. We're only using like 1/2 to 3/4 of a roll per week. We're at 4 1/2 rolls remaining. We're good for a while. It's not that hard to use less.

I don't take my daily shower until after my morning poop. That eliminated half my T.P. use instantly.

I've seen similar stories about the commercial bathroom use dropping and driving up the need for personal stock. I can 100% see that as I, as a man, only use TP in our house on weekends. My daily routine normally keeps that "business" in the office.

We scored an 18 pack at Target about a week ago, but my wife had to get there at 7am right when they opened. Store clerk told her they are stocked every morning, and out within an hour. She also said that while it's limited to one pack per customer, the same people come in every day to buy it, so there's still some hoarding going on, unfortunately.

People are going to love online groceries after this and our population's going to be even more sedentary, isn't it?
Yes I think so. I work for a credit union now, and I can tell our members (customers) are shocked by how much they can accomplish without coming in and talking to a banker or representative in person. There are of course people still, who don't do email and they'll always prefer coming in and meeting face to face, but that demographic is fazing out slowly.

Found an old box in the basement full of TP that we ordered on Amazon and forgot about it...so because of that when I had seen it at the store didn't buy it just to be that guy.

Sams Club usually has it available to ship to home for Plus members. It may take two weeks to get to you but easy to pre-order that way.

I placed an order today. Still shows "in stock" as of this post.

Freakin kids bro!
Yeah if you've ever witnessed a five year olds bathroom habits they use like 6 feet of toilet paper to wipe. You can try and monitor them but it is just one of 1000 different things you have to monitor when you have 4 kids running around the house.

I've got a friend that works in a West DSM Hy-Vee. He showed me a picture of their back room just 2 days ago, with multiple double stacked pallets of TP. Some cheapo brand that I've never heard of, but they've got it. He said they aren't stocking the shelves with it. Only available thru Aisles Online:rolleyes:

This makes some sense. Tried for 3 weeks to get TP from the local HV - nothing available. Last one was aisles-on-line but I designated one type and another as substitute. Also trolled Sam's Club online multiple times daily for 5 days - everything always out of stock. Finally, in the 4th week, using aisles, selected best substitute. HV email told me out of stock - but at pickup we got one of those cheapo brands with the groceries.

Even if demand is way up, supply should be what it was before. Therefore, should see something on the shelf 30% to 60% of the time. But it's just not there.

I get that residential demand has gone up significantly but in theory wouldn't there be plenty of commercial TP available if it hasn't already made its way to the final customer? I have to think commercial warehouses are loaded right now with nearly all commercial businesses being closed or WFH. This sounds like an opportunity to repack commercial TP into retail packaging. The only way we should be in a shortage of total TP (residential and commercial together) is if people are massively hoarding.

Is this what you ordered, because that is all that did not say out of stock at 11:22 a.m. -now?

Commercial TP is generally different Not the multi-ply, soft, fragrance free stuff. Also comes in much larger rolls so that maintenance staff is not constantly replenishing the stalls.

TP takes up a lot of storage space at a store, so it one of the items they just get a constant order of.

That's the head scratcher. Long story short, the commercial product hasn't been made available for retail.

Seems like an appropriate place to note that wet wipes are extremely underrated by the average American.

Use 'em when I camp or backpack. You wanna talk about a game changer.

Can't flush them usually though.
