it seems to be working. At least according to doctors on the front lines. I don't think we can afford to wait several months for the trial data. But that's just me.

I'm assuming Fauci isn't wearing a mask because he's not out and about in crowds of people like many other Americans are.

I would guess Fauci is probably in a lot more face to face meetings than the vast majority of people these days.

It's an existing drug so I don't think it would require resources that would hinder the development of anything else. The biggest impact I've heard is people who rely on it for arthritis medication are not able to get it. That and people taking koi pond treatment of the same name and killing themselves...

You're absolutely right. Dr. Fauci should be addressing the entire nation with important information while wearing a mask that absolutely muffles his sound. That's a fantastic idea.

I'm sure if Dr. Fauci were going to loaded grocery stores or working in a packed environment, he'd be wearing a mask. Him being around 10 other people while being interviewed and not wearing a mask isn't hypocritical like you're trying to make it.

You ever wore those? You raise your voice a little and you can be heard fine. He has microphones when he does them, you can turn those up.

How about him continuing to stand near a crowded podium day after day clearly being within six feet of others? I find it hard to belive there isn’t a larger press room in the White House where the speakers could sit spread out at a banquet style table.

That's false. This order is still not in place. And frankly today's proclamation does nothing but prove wrong the people who said we were already doing an SIP by a different name.

She was asked directly why criteria for an SIP is needed if we're already effectively doing one and she fell back on the same talking points without answering.

Did you see the pictures Cuomo was showing of places in New York this weekend? You can still get haircuts in some states with SIP orders. Apparently people in Minnesota are fee to golf in Iowa. How did they escape Minnesota? SIP really isn't that different if it's not strictly enforced like it is in China.

We should be putting resources in to rapid testing not hydroxychloroquine. Because hydroxychloroquine isn’t going to help us get back to some kind of more normal life.

They are putting a ton of resources into rapid testing.

Yeah he's in with meetings with other doctors/epidemiologists who most likely have been taking serious precautions their whole entire lives as far as becoming infected to different viruses. I'm not going to question Fauci on why he's not wearing a mask. Wearing a mask is not about protecting yourself from the virus, it's about protecting others. He is someone who has been tested a couple of times already.

This message is for people who are out and about for essential items or people who still have to go to work in large groups.

Thank you, and how many millions of other Americans are in the same boat? My mom has COPD and is 79 years old, she gets it, she would not survive either.

I just cannot figure out why people cannot just stay at home, and why the government is not doing more.

You know a really good way to undermine the importance of your message? Don’t follow it yourself. Trump is obviously an idiot but people follow his lead and when you have him and Fauci basically saying everyone should wear masks but you know we’re not going to do. Maintain six feet of social distancing, but we’re all gonna cram up here on stage day after day. It undermines their message.

The CDC has been a disaster during this entire epidemic. Their whole reason for existence is to help prevent disease outbreaks like this, and, if they do occur, help mitigate the damage and keep the public informed on safety precautions to take. First, they screwed up testing early on by claiming they had it covered when it turned out their tests were faulty and they only had a fraction of what was actually needed. Then they spent weeks informing the public that no one needed to wear masks because they did nothing to prevent you from getting the virus. Now they have done a 180 and are telling people to wear masks whenever you are out in public. States are actually REQUIRING people to wear masks now. Either they were lying about the effectiveness of masks the whole time (likely) or they were ignorant of it. The CDC has probably done more damage their reputation than anyone throughout this whole crises. Telling people not to wear masks has to be one of the biggest blunders we've ever had from a government agency. Every doctor and nurse in the country knows how important masks are to prevent the spread of disease, yet the CDC had no idea?

Their models could still be accurate, but my god they've lose a lot of credibility.

They have the Abbott rapid test in the White House for this reason. They are being tested frequently.

So, should we listen to the CDC or not? It seems that several want to say listen to them, but then say they were unreliable in the past. If your past is unreliable, why would your present be reliable? Or is it that it now just coincides with what people want to hear?

How are you sure of this when "there will be a vaccine quickly" was very obviously a lie from the same people.

Explain the process of sorting the lies from what we can trust?

Obviously it would be great to have any treatment. It would be great to have a vaccine quickly. I can't live in a world where we ignore they already clearly lied about a quick vaccine but now I'm supposed to trust this other info?

With zero knowledge of any company who makes this, can you imagine that anybody who can mfr this stuff is NOT going balls out to make more? What would be their motivation? I don't think this needs to be confirmed by Walter Cronkite's ghost to make it beyond belief.

Now, how much and how fast, those are very good questions, and i have no idea. Still no official scientific proof it really works yet, either, that is probably 4-8 weeks out at best.
