Scout’s take: “He has unlimited range, doesn’t hunt shots and plays with toughness and confidence. He’s not a primary ball handler, but can initiate offense with him and then run him off screens. Doesn’t get rattled.”
Schools: Arkansas, Iowa State, San Diego State, Washington State

He needs to get Buggs or Gomez signed this week. You need to start filling one of the 4 scholarships that are open on April 6th. My concern is that Arkansas is miles ahead of us regarding roster construction and Gomez can actually see their vision coming into effect.

If Buggs ends up being the best guy of the bunch, we're not sitting well. We're then going to have to have 2 freshman play unbelievably well to be where we would like this team to be.

If we end up getting even one guy that is a "home run", we're in much better shape. Even if we get a commitment from Buggs before anyone else, let's not freak out one way or another.

There are a ton of moving pieces right now and likely more to come.

Good point here, it is troubling to miss out on the top targets early but it is only April and we are seeing more transfer announcements by the day.
I don't believe we even were aware Bolton was an option until May last year, let alone get a waiver to play right away.

Yeah I just think some are a jumping the gun a bit. There is still a lot of time left. There may be better guys that end up transferring than there are right now. These players are still in school and might wait till graduation or till they're done with classes before they decide to transfer. We should all just wait and see how this plays out.

This transfer season started a month early. Difficult to tell if the transfer season (based on volume) will be elongated or simply expedited. It would be ideal to get a key player or two soon in case the volume trails off and we are left with scraps.

Alabama wanted Zeb Noland!

(sarcasm pirate, font, whatever....People were saying that too)
Before my time, but I do remember Bama wanting Purdy!

You’re right, it’s hard to know what’s valid “interest” in spring recruiting. But there are tweets saying Gomez has multiple high major offers. Maybe those are wrong, but it seems different than the “St Johns wanted Beverly too” coping mechanisms.

Bobby Hurley interested too...ok I'm warming up to Gomez a little more each passing day so far. Hurley loves guards, dominated with a small ball lineup this past season. That said, throw another squad in there that will be tough to beat out for him. Steve might just whiff on this one, too.

I'm glad Buggs may want to be a Cyclone but let's not inflate his playing ability.

He played against 4 P5 schools this season - in those games he averaged 5ppg on 17% shooting, 6 assists, and 4 turnovers.

I doubt Gomez would be cutting his list down to 4 schools that haven't offered him a scholarship.

People need to remember that the grad transfers that the transfer to a way better conference most likely won't do much. Just look at last year for an example. And people also need to remember that a school showing interest in or offering a grad transfer doesn't mean as much as a regular offer. Schools reach on grad transfers all the time to try and fill a specific role they might be missing for next year's team. Kentucky wouldn't normally offer Nate Sestina. UNC wouldn't normally offer Keeling or Pierce. KU wouldn't normally offer Jack Whitman.

Yep Gomez and Buggs are tier 2 transfers. We would still need a tier 1 guy like Aiken or Turner

respectfully disagree...Gomez is Tier 1 IMO. When you have offers from SDSU and Gonzaga you are Tier 1. As a pure shooter and scorer I think Gomez is Tier 1.

i think in the initial contact with spring recruits you have to offer weather you are really serious or not, you know there will be plenty of other schools that will and you will be left in the dust if not then you can slow play them as the process plays out...

Grad transfers sunk Royboy's boat last year.

Gomez would be a great addition
