Did he announce? I missed that. If he didn't announce why did he have a final four instead of just saying "I am going to Maryland". I am confused.

He is still considering ISU but due to the visit restrictions being extended he won't be able to make it to campus to visit. That could be the deal breaker for him and his family. Where he has a long standing relationship with Turgeon and had on official to Maryland previously ( visited Seton Hall too).
I'd say Maryland and SH would be considered the favorites today due to familiarity but obviously Prohm has made a serious impression to be in the final four in a short time to be a real threat to get his commitment. I'd speculate Michigan is more of a result of Juan Howard being the coach being the draw than anything else.

I don’t really understand any of the fascination with Buggs. He is a career 27% 3 point shooter 61-218 and a career 39% from the field. In order for him to have any chance at being effective you need 2-3 shooters on the floor at once with him. The benefits are that he has a P5 frame and it only costs us a year if it’s a miss. But it may be better to just bank the scholarship for a mid-year if the staff has any faith in the freshmen.

His passing ability is what's getting him the attention from high level suitors

Aiken has such a high usage. I get there's many factors that go into it, and it doesn't define a player's ability, but his is so high.
Edit: Added efficiency rating
Aiken: 35 usage vs 24 player efficiency rating
Wigginton: 28; 20
Deandre Kane: 27; 20
Nixon @ csu: 27; 15
Mooney @ SD: 31; 23
Buddy Hield: 30; 28
Trae Young: 37; 28
Jarrett Culver: 32; 25
Ja Morant: 33; 32
Jimmer Fredette: 38; 31

The Tier A&B shooting stats on Kenpom for Buggs are very similar to others we just got finished with.

5-39 (12.8%)for 3 pt range in 3 years against Tier A&B competition and 41-142 (28.9%) from the field against Tier A & B competition.

he is not a tier 1 guy for me but if you put a tier 1 scorer around him like Turner or Aiken I think it could work, we need someone who can handle the pg in the big 12

Tried with Barry, trying with Gomez

So Gomez is going to play off the ball at 5”8? I have difficulty seeing how that works on the defensive end where we are trying to get longer. Maybe Buggs, Bolton and Gomez work but you are really small on the defensive end.

The key is being able to bring enough offensively to outweigh the defensive efforts. If Gomez can be as efficient as he was at his last school, the defense will take care of itself.

I mean I'm not sure what you want Prohm to do here. He's trying to add as much talent as possible

I feel like some people are expecting no less than our scholarships to all be filled with great playmakers when in reality a good spring would be 1 big time playmaker, 2 solid starters with a specialization (Buggs with his passing and a sharpshooter or defensive specialist), and 1 sit out

I understand that you can only add the talent that you can sign. However, what is the identity of the basketball program and are we consistently recruiting to that identity?

We don't have an identity. That's the problem. You can't recruit to an identity in the Spring either. Bring in the best possible players and then you have to figure out a way to make it work

I believe we're redefining our identity, considering the departures of some guys. We are trying to get length and athleticism, shooting, and a PG. We're currently going after guys that fit those categories. Some may fit multiple, some only one.

Gomez might be better in a situation where is not the obvious #1 option, but his numbers on kenpom against Top 50 and Top 100 teams are not very good at all. His shooting numbers are drastically worse against good teams.
