Quick post on Koreem's immediate recruitment

https://stockrisers.com/2020/04/01/...earing-from-many-programs-early-into-process/

"Yesterday, Sacred Heart is losing a major scorer in Koreem Ozier. The 6-foot-1 guard becomes yet another major transfer for SHU who’s producing several high-major prospects for the next few years as Ozier’s teammate, EJ Anosike, just announced his commitment to Tennessee. As far as Ozier, he scored 14.3 points per game on 39% shooting for the Pioneers.

Stockrisers.com caught up with Ozier yesterday after his name was inserted into the portal. “The New Mexico Lobos were the first program to call,” Ozier said. In addition, he said besides along with the Lobos, Iowa State and Butler also called within 20 minutes of his name being into the portal.
Last night, Georgetown, Georgia, UNCC and Vanderbilt entered the mix for Ozier."

6'9 235 Pound Stretch 4. Averaged 11 points, and 5 rebounds on 41% from the floor including 34% from 3. 4 Star Recruit out of HS. Originally signed to UCONN. This is the Stretch 4 Iowa State is missing right now. This guy is a must. I hope like no other Prohm reaches out to this dude. Here are his Freshman Highlights from his UCONN Days, and some from a 29 point outburst vs Fresno State this past Season.

I have no idea if we'll be in the cards, but you're right, this guy would be a monster get.

No thanks. A high volume/low efficiency guy is not what this team needs.

He would a homerun but the list of suitors will be those you would expect for a Top 5 grad transfer.

For those who don't want to give the DMR a click or your work blocked Twitter/DMR:

On DJ Carton:
-----------------------------------------
It's been reported that schools such as Memphis, Louisville, Oregon, USC, Illinois, Nebraska, Alabama and Seton Hall have all reached out.

But how about Iowa schools? Are Iowa, Iowa State, Drake or Northern Iowa involved?

According to some folks behind the scenes of this recruitment, all four programs have reached out to Carton to express interest. At this point, however, I'm told that, relative to the other three, there's one that's currently most actively involved:

Iowa State.

The Cyclones were already trying to get involved minutes after the news initially broke that Carton was transferring. They've been in on this from the beginning, and it sounds like they're still working to have their name in the hat.

Iowa State liked Carton coming out of high school and it extended an offer. But it got seriously involved late in the process, relative to some of his other strong suitors, and it couldn't make up enough ground to be a legitimate contender.

Also:

To answer the second part of this question: No, I don't think there's much chance Carton transfers to Iowa for the 2020-21 season. The Hawkeyes recruited him hard out of high school and he included them in his top six. But, at least right now, it doesn't sound like Iowa fans should hold their breath.

Doesn’t Carton to ISU make sense? The kid wants to play in the NBA. The playing time is guaranteed and the clones have a proven track record of getting players to the Association.

Well that answers that... very interesting.
I am usually skeptical of Bain's ISU recruiting nuggets but would guess this is from his Carton connections more than ones in Ames so probably accurate.
DJ committing would seem to be good for both his and CF's metal heath and fresh start to next year (assuming he'd get a NCAA waiver).

As far as the other Iowa schools go, yes. The other schools listed could probably offer him similar immediate playing time as we do. We'll just have to see how much he wants to be closer to home.

Get him Steve! Carton would be a game changer, even if he was only here for a year and could potentially influence other transfers to come here.

Marquette and Iowa State make a lot of sense to me.

That is based on available playing time, style of play, and close to home.

Gomez has an idea of what he'll be looking for as he goes through this process.

"Playing fast, shooting threes and a coach with great execution," said Gomez.

Makes me wonder why they didnt go after Bowen Born harder if they are going after this guy.

They had filled all their schollies? Now we have 4 open but Born is already signed elsewhere? Really no correlation between the two. I'm guessing if Born went to a mid major, put up 20 a night and wanted to transfer, Steve would kick the tires.
