First time, long time-

Just want to plant a seed for everyone to consider: Lawrence is a great football road trip from Central Iowa.

This year we play at KU on Oct. 3. I took my family to Lawrence for the 2018 game and had a great day. Did a day trip from DSM, ate both Waffle House for breakfast and BBQ for supper. Got into the game for $15 each, but others got in for even less. Saw two ridonkulous Butler TDs in person.

The key is that without trying Iowa State fans outnumbered KU fans at least 2:1. Granted, Les has gotten the fan base a little more excited, but unless they start 3-1 or 4-0 (I don’t see them winning in Waco in week 2) I think Iowa State fans can overwhelm the KU fan base with only 10-15K bodies. (It seems like we have that many alumni in the KC metro alone.)

Start your planning now. See you in Lawrence.

The times I have been to Lawrence the Cyclone fans far outnumbered the KU fans. Unfortunately one of those times was the time KU upset ISU.
That was one of the worst football games I have ever watched in person and I sat through a lot of Iowa drubbings of the Cyclones in the 80's

If you're talking about the one where that was their first conference win in forever, and they tore down the goalpost...we were there too. We went down with a busload of CF'ers.

Been to I think 3 games at KU in the past and the game day atmosphere and tailgating absolutely sucks there. Unfortunately 1 year I went was the year Mangino took them to the Orange Bowl and they packed the stadium. The other 2 times it was a ghost town and probably more ISU fans there than KU fans. It's not very high on my list for a trip again soon. I think a road trip to WVU at some point sounds like more fun to me than to KU.

We want to do WVU soon. We're going to Stillwater this fall on our way back from Texas.

Unfortunately yes, I'm talking about the same game. :(

I've been to WVU twice. Both times it was the game on Thanksgiving break. West Virginia is beautiful when the trees still have their leaves. In the late fall it's kind of depressing.

I need to go to another away game at some point. I haven't in a few years. Not sure if going all the way to Lubbock or Waco is worth it.
I really want to go to the game in Vegas in a couple of years

“Waving the wheat” is the dumbest ******* thing I’ve ever seen a college football crowd do, so I guess go there for that.

Why don't you road trip & go to the OSU game with us?

Most overrated town in the Big 12. But at least you'll probably see a W

Isn't this premature? Due to coronavirus, all NCAA football games will consist of 2 players from each team playing flag football for 10 minutes. No fans or coaches allowed. Kansas would have as good of shot as any to win the National Championship!

Yeah, especially if they still have that poteet...bodeen...bopeep...whatever the hell that jackrabbit's name was...

I've had a lot of fun when I've gone to games in Lawrence. It's a cool town, and KU fans are completely laid back during football season.

The stadium is a dump, and they don't really tailgate, but the gameday scene is a good time nonetheless. We've bar hopped the neighborhood around campus and had a blast.

Went down in 2018 and had fun. The campus is nice, but the old dump of a stadium is built in a bowl. Getting in to the stadium was strange, as they made everyone walk thru a metal detector and then get wanded. Not sure what they were expecting. We'll be there this year and will be tailgating across from Fog Allen gym. Headed to Joe's BBQ in Kansas City on the way home.
