Solomon Young's Challenge to Tre Jackson: No More Zeroes

Tre Jackson's development from this year to next year is going to key and hopefully fun to watch.

He's proven toward the end of the season he can defend and shoot the ball. I am hopefully he can expand his game over the off season to add an element beyond catch and shoot he's got the potential to be a special player for us.

I agree. I'm not sure he's a natural born PG, but I'd like to see him work on ball handling and dribble drive and kick. If he could add that element to his game, watch out. With both he and Bolton driving and kicking to one another for wide open 3's, next year could actually be really fun. Not gonna count chickens before they hatch though. He'll still only be a sophomore, and he needs to add some serious muscle before he's ready to take the next step I think. Could be he's just a really solid 3 and D guy, which would be fine I think.

There’s a lot of criticism about Prohm and rightfully so, but at least I feel good about his point guard development. I’m pretty excited to see what they can do with him.

Tre just needs muscle development and a handle and he will do well.

huh? Tre physically looks fine to me for a 18 yr old guard. Adding muscle last request I’d have.. but he will in off season.

Tre is a shorter SG.. he’s not a PG.. but if he can work on ball handling and his floater that’s would be great deal.

Tre, Grill and Bolton appears to be 4 year kids.. when was last time isu had a 4 year player at isu? 3 years? That’s incredible honestly

4 year player? Solo will be here for 5
But i get what you're saying.

Thats what isu needs to be competitive. 2-3 4 year players to build around.
Thats why Fred, and Prohms first years had success, stop gap xfers around solid 4 year guys

4 year college players? Bolton will be but not all at ISU.

He's gotten knocked around a bit and a big part of the reason he isn't effective off of the dribble has to do with a lack of strength, nothing too concerning for a freshman but it's where he needs to improve if he's going to be a difference maker next year. . He played good in the first half against tcu but I was more encouraged by the two pull up floaters he hit in the second half. We know he can hit threes but that's all he really had proven so far. With not much of a dribble drive game, he needs to find ways to create his own shot, developing that will keep teams honest and make him really dangerous. He's been up and down shooting this season but everytime he shoots, i think it's going in, he has a great looking shot. It's effortless.

Nice article by Rob, Solo can hopefully be the leader that we've been missing for a bit. For the last couple of home games the players have seemed to be really supportive of each other, hopefully that can continue to gel over the summer and come back next season with a team that is greater than the sum of it parts. That would also be something we haven't had for a couple of yrs IMO.

Something I've liked about Jackson is he seems to have a pretty steady demeanor. Kind of the 'not too high, too low' type that might be someone you can trust to keep good possession of the ball at the end of a game.

Oh I wasn't saying that because I felt he was too small, but imagine him with 10 to 15 lbs of lean muscle mass. Kid would be even more of what we like. Then add a handle and like you said the touch for a floater, or the kick out pass off the dribble drive. I think Tre will be a good one.

The dude is a very solid 170. But being a ripped 170 is not very big but with his muscle development as a freshman I could see him being pretty stalky at 180
