Illinois just hasn't grown on us. We've given it a long enough time.
A bad thing is just how rough this has been on my wife. She thought she would love it here but it just hasn't been a good fit. She's a sweetheart and I hate seeing her struggle
For me it's more about ripping the band Aid off and taking the financial beating on the house and the nuts and bolts around the move.
The housing market here sucks compared to either Dallas or California so we've fallen behind $$ wise
Zero chance she will stay in the Midwest.
Although I'm pretty sure Des Moines would've been superior to Illinois....without a doubt.

Oh, it's not all a choice. I'm still dealing with the effects, including a whole load of extra weight, from choices other people made for me.
Heck, I was prepping for another marathon when people made the choices that took me down. It's not all a choice, man.
Chicago area, but this entire state can go pound sand. Just a bad fit for our lifestyle
So....we'll get killed on our home that isn't appreciating, take our losses, and never look back.
But Christmas 2021 will have the windows open and maybe a trip to the beach (unless we end up in Texas)
