I would like to know thoughts on this as well. I still haven’t finished end tables I made around Christmas time because my garage isn’t heated. I used brush on Varathane poly from Menards on a kitchen table and so far it’s holding up good but I’m no expert on this stuff at all
The poly I brushed on the dining room table pictured earlier in the thread didn't dry right due to the cold garage, but the kitchen table I did in the summer turned out nice. I'd wait until it warms up, which I am for the bed so I can open windows.

The best thing I’ve done in this house is install a 90 dollar 220V electric heater in the garage. It’s really worth looking into. I think I spent maybe 30 or 40 dollars in buying the breaker and 10G wiring to install it.

I have been making burial flag display cases, oak picture frames, and oak fireplace mantles.

As soon as I can figure out how to add photos, I will post.

Breaker? I barely know her...

seriously though, this sounds like a perfect idea and I already started looking into it. I’m not skilled at all with electrical though and going solo on this kind of project would worry me. The breaker box is at the opposite end of my house from the garage in a horrible place in the basement. I’ve never added a breaker and I don’t know how I would get a wire run that far to the garage. It would have to be a hell of a long run for that wire

My first real woodworking project, if you can even call it that, that I completed with my husbands help just before Christmas. I had saved pictures of projects on pinterest for years hoping to convince him to make them and finally realized there was no reason I couldn't start learning to do it myself! Hoping to make a herringbone headboard similar to the wedding backdrop posted earlier as my next project soon.

Anyone have good plans for a shadowbox? My parents dog died and want to make them a box with her collar and picture. I’ve got some solid oak for the sides but haven’t quite figured out how to do the backing and the plexiglass. Do you make the access in the front with the plexi sliding out or on the backing?

I have made a few shadow boxes. Let me know if you are still looking for ideas. I used a dove tail jig for the corners. makes them perfect 90 deg, and will last a lifetime.

I’m gonna build this over the weekend for my sons upcoming bday present. Gonna let him help decorate with stickers and paint after his party. Anyone worked with those little LED (shown on middle floor) strips before? Recommendations? Can you just cut them or something to how long you want them? Do they just stick on? I plan to use them throughout that bad boy if I can figure out how. TIA

Here are a couple projects that I finished up this weekend. One of the flag cases is for a good friends father that passed away a few years ago, and the other is my retirement flag from the Army, and an 11x14 photo frame for my wife.

Looks like the same as an under kitchen cabinet 5050 LED light strip. Just look strand labeled as cuttable. The strip will be marked where you are able to cut. The following one is every third led diode from there you will have to make it work.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B082215FMT/ref=sspa_mw_detail_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&th=1

If the adhesive back isn't enough they do make clips with screws for these. Also if using connectors the way the connectors are connected to each strip determines if it will function.

Potential project for any woodworkers in this thread. I'm looking for someone to build this race medal case for my wife. I definitely don't have the skills or the tools to do this myself, so I'm hoping someone in the surrounding Ankeny area could take this project on. Send me a message if you’re interested and we can discuss the details and costs further. Race Medal Case.jpg

I would be interested in seeing some of your ideas. Been wanting to make some shadow boxes for a couple of career Army guys I am close with in addition to some memory boxes.

Here are a couple that I made for my father and uncle. They are 28 x 36 x 3 1/4 I think, and made out of Oak, and have dovetail corners. I can add custom inlays around the face frame if someone wants that also. They are pretty fun to make, and These are made for a burial flag. Let me know if you want any other ideas. feel free to email me at luv2run_64@yahoo.com.

Have a whole pile of pieces made to assemble into cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Trying to get myself motivated to get them done this weekend. Sanding is not my favorite part of woodworking.

Anyone have experience with airless sprayers or HVLP sprayers? Finishing my basement and need to paint some trim and doors. May do a built in entertainment center which I'll probably paint or poly. Considering the Graco ultramax if I go airless.

I bought one from harbor freight for considerably less than HD or Lowe’s. Works great.

Going to be nice this weekend, need to build something. Probably will build a bookshelf out of a couple 1x10s. I want to use barn red Varthane stain or the Rustoleum barn red chalk paint I haven't got to use yet.

Couldn’t figure out how to get the damn elevator on there. Used different materials than was recommended. Painting it dark blue and adding avenger stickers and lights this weekend before sons bday.
