Thad Matta - ISU Head Coach next year

It isn't a staff issue and I am betting there are no changes to staff. Further basketball staff changes really won't do anything.

Prohm will be here another two years so really just have to hope that there is some kind of crazy turn around. They need guys to make giant improvements and for new players to be upgrades.

The staff seems unable to teach defense, rebounding, and interior skills to the players, or just doesn't understand that these things are problems beyond giving lip service to them in press conferences. However, I won't be surprised if there are no staff changes, because these problems have been apparent for a couple of years now, and nothing has been done.

Honestly, I don't know how much is the assistants or how much is Prohm. Seems like most of the time assistants are there to recruit and teach what the head coach wants taught. Although there are some specialists out there but I don't think ISU is in the position to steal top flight assistants away from other good schools which is presumably where they are. They did add Kane last year but seems he was brought in more for recruiting.

If you average more posts per day than T Lew allows his defender points per game, you're doing it wrong.

This is laughable. Your argument is that staff doesn't matter much? That's absolutely insane. I'll also guarantee there's staff turnover this off season. You cannot have a season like this and keep things the same. It just doesn't happen.

What people should hope for is for Prohm to go the John Beilein route. After the 2016 season, Beilein's seat was getting very warm after two mediocre seasons (one of which because Caris Levert got hurt) and was facing pressure. He cleaned house and brought in Billy Donlon, who was supposedly there to help with the defense. DOnlon left after one year but then he brought in Luke Yachlich. It was Beilein seeing that simply having a top 10 offense wasn't going to get it done. There isn't a direct parallel here but the fact is that he turned around a program by recognizing they didn't have the right guys there for on the court coaching.

I will say this. I understand that it’s not going to happen but if pollard actually we’re talking to him and he’d take the Iowa State job then you absolutely do it. Not even a question. Unfortunately we will get Prohm for a couple more years.

Dana Altman.

1) Can develop talent.
2) Experienced, with success.
3) Won't tell recruits "You will start".
4) Not afraid to bench players that won't play defense
5) Knows that a good offense is not 1-on-1, then a 3.
6) No one would say "Look, he left the PAC-12 for us !!!"
