Think I want what McMurphy is drinking right now:

No. 10 Iowa State
Last year: 7-6 (lost to Notre Dame 33-9 in Camping World Bowl)
Schedule highlights: Sept. 12 at Iowa, Oct. 10 at Oklahoma State, Oct. 17 vs. Oklahoma, Nov. 7 at TCU, Nov. 14 vs. Baylor, Nov. 21 at Texas

There was nothing extraordinary about Iowa State’s 7-6 season in 2019. But it could have been so much better. Of the Cyclones’ six losses, three were by two points or less and another by seven points. Iowa State should be one of the Big 12’s — and the nation’s — surprise teams in 2020. The Cyclones return 14 starters this fall led by QB Brock Purdy, who led the Big 12 averaging 306 yards passing per game, and RB Breece Hall and WR Tarique Milton. Matt Campbell is considered one of the nation’s top coaches, and he’ll show why in 2020.

I hope we're not in the AP top 25 to start the season. Need to go out and earn it.

What's our record been when we've earned our ranking vs when it's been handed to us?

Give me a ranking in the 20's or no ranking at all. Also, there's no way in hell we're getting ranked that high after a 7-6 season and the way we played in our final game. If we had Texas on the front of our jerseys, probably, but we don't.

That’s what we’ve been doing for the past three years.
Have we finished in the AP top 25 in the last three years?

I'm not trying to **** on our program. I just feel like that we may need to pump the brakes a little bit. Could we end up in the top 10 next season? Sure, but after this past season, I think we need to see this winning in the margins stuff before we get too high.

I don't think ranking us in the top-25 to start the year would be anything crazy, considering the talent we have back, but top-10 is pretty outrageous all things considered.

I mean this is literally one man's opinion who threw a darkhorse into his top 10.
