Weather Thread - Jan 10 & Jan 11

There was so much warm air in the system. Just imagine having tornados yesterday and snow today. This happened along i70 in Missouri. But we had pretty heavy rain at 31-32 deg and it wasnt even freezing.

NWS post this earlier today if people didn't see it. Another round tomorrow for much of the state.

I don't know why people disliked your post. I honestly don't know why people try to predict the weather so often . No one can change it and it's usually not half as bad as they make it out to be. So why even worry about it?

I wonder if went back 20 years and looked at winter storms how many they get “right” vs “wrong”. Idk what the criteria would be maybe within .1 inches of ice and like 2 inches for snow.

I agree, let’s get rid of all weather people and we can go back to the days of having no idea what the weather 2 hours from now will bring.

No one in our neighborhood hand shoveled, everyone snowblower. That's why I disagreed.

In the metro it seemed like they hit it pretty well. I never saw snow totals but my commute home matched what they were saying.

I'm amazed at how well they can predict weather, but I guess that's because I'm not completely ignorant on how hard it is to model natural systems.

Roads are pretty marginal in north central Iowa right now for driving 50 pretty much catches it. anything other than 4 lane is 100% snow covered couple of inches maybe.
