Do people honestly think Chizik would have any success, well, about anywhere? I get that he'll have much better talent and not have his fishing buddies as assistants like he did at ISU, but every Saturday was an absolute disorganized clown show. I think every third defensive play included a blown coverage with a receiver with 20 yards of separation. People of course remember Cam Newton at Auburn, but probably forget just what a historically dominant college football player he was. Also, Gus Malzahn was running the offense, and he was doing some really innovative stuff at the time. Last and most often forgotten is that Nick Fairley decided he was going to actually try for a few weeks, absolutely dominated and took over games like no other interior lineman I can remember outside of Suh.

Bottom line. Chizik sucks. He'll suck at Baylor if he goes there. Please hire him, Baylor.

Carolina has a new owner who happens to be the wealthiest in the entire league since Paul Allen passed. Definitely made Rhule an offer he couldn't refuse.

Also, this team can easily win the division with that defense. Part of Cam's problem was having a horrible offensive line. When healthy, Cam is a generational talent who has lead a team to a super bowl appearance

Cam's bigger problem is that he's one of the least accurate throwers in the league. He's been able to compensate with incredible arm strength and athleticism, but as he gets older and more banged up it's tougher for him to overcome his inaccuracy. He's had some incredible seasons, games, and makes some unbelievable throws, but you just can't depend on him to make throws consistently.

I want to be excited by this but I just don't see BU making the slide back to the doormat they were in the 90s or early 2000s. They have been winning at a high level for years now, through two coaches. They have poured a ton into facilities, and they have great access to Texas recruiting aided by UT and ATM being unable to get their crap together. They may take a step back from a conference title contender, but I don't see them going back to being a sure W.

I think at a Tulsa, MTSU, Southern Miss he could. I don't think I'd want him running my Power 5 program.

probably not. But it is likely they take a step back. That’s a good thing.

If a certain football coach were to ever leave here for the NFL, I believe the meltdown over there would look like two kittens drinking from a saucer compared to what would happen on here.

I don't think they are comparable situations. One has been adamant from the get go that he wants to be here, while the other was interviewing for other jobs each offseason he was there. I think people would be quite appreciative and understanding if Matt left for what he deemed a better fit.

Although the parallels between Hoiberg and Rhule leaving are stunning.

Agreed.

Whose Hoiberg?

They may not get Meyer, but if the rumors of Rhule earning north of $6 Million at Baylor are true then they should be able to lure in a really good coach.

On one hand, the $6mm/year number is so high compared to his colleagues that it might explain why he stuck around for 3 years. On the other hand, if I were his agent and I knew he was jumping to the NFL, I would definitely start leaking BS inflated salary numbers to reporters.

Clearly not allowed to cheer this on in /r/CFB. Every ban I've ever had on reddit is related to Baylor and talking about them in a "negative" light.

The post was "Couldn't have happened to a better fanbase". Ridiculous.

Cam and Matt is not a match made in heaven.
Cam has one year left on his deal. Either try it and if it fails let him walk next summer or trade him this summer. A lot of teams out there have their QB of the Future so Cam better realize he needs to figure it out to stay in the league. His best bet is staying with Rhule and making it work.

Maybe I’m just misremembering the Hoiberg departure. I don’t think anyone was surprised he left. I think there was surprise and shock for how and where he left to. Rhule doesn’t have a connection to Baylor like Hoiberg did.

Maybe Jason Garrett should go coach Baylor. He's coached at least 1 woman abuser so that's something that would at least get a foot in the door at Baylor.

Rhule has that no-nonsense personality that will be challenged by Cam's mercurial approach to seemingly everything. I admit to not watching much NFL stuff until the playoffs, but what I've seen of Newton doesn't suggest to me that he's at all focused.
