Hines doesn’t have any connections within the football program.

I’m not saying he is, just that if him not having an agent wouldn’t necessarily matter just like it didn’t when he came here

Its probably easier to turn down a suitor when the details are murky vs an agent going 'hey, i've already worked out preliminary details with XYZ State to get you 5 mil a year'. A lot more tangible, makes it something that might get more consideration.

It’s been a while, but I don’t think this is right? Wasn’t Campbell announced like, two days after our last game? I thought Candle coached the MAC championship game?

I don't think they make the Champ game that year. I believe it leaked the Sat of the MAC Champ game and was announced to happen that Sunday.

So with all this "permission" talk, why would JP give anyone permission to talk to Campbell?

I don't know the exact timeline of how everything went, but Toledo played Western Michigan on Friday, ISU played at WVU on Saturday, after the WVU game it was pretty much known Campbell to ISU. The MAC championship has nothing to do with any of this as it was the weekend after

Ok I was off a week.

Sadly, 'misinformation' is part of everyone's game these days; more so because of the internet. And like chess, it has to be played strategically to benefit one side or the other. "Leverage" the misinformation.

That’s right, they lost the tie breaker. Candle definitely coaches the bowl game though.

But yeah, anyway, Campbell was announced our coach by like, two days after our last game.

Rhoads was fired after the KSU debacle, but was allowed to coach the WV game. Wasn't Campbell hired that week before the last game? Otherwise makes no sense that we got a head start on getting rid of Rhoads.

I’m sure there were behind the scenes conversations, but he wasn’t announced until after the season.

This wasn’t THAT long ago. Rhoads was fired 11/21 after the KSU loss, and coached through the end of the season. Toledo lost on 11/27, which ended their regular season. Because Campbell wouldn’t talk to anyone until the season was over, Pollard was there waiting for him. The deal was worked out and officially announced on 11/29.

Based on that timeline, the FSU announcement should have happened yesterday, so it’s probably coming early this morning at the very latest.

You are right. I thought it was the Mac Championship since Toledo was playing Western Michigan, but it was the winner to the MAC Championship.

Either way my point is still the same.
