You can also customize channel line-ups. I have the one that shows all channels and then I have one that is customized for sports. I have all the ESPN/FS channels first followed by the other sports channels and it hides all the other channels that aren't sports related.
Where are you people getting your internet from for under $45/mo(assuming Youtube.tv is $55) and what speeds/data limits?
I get mine via RCN, not sure the speed but its fast enough I can watch on my phone and TV without any buffering.
I’m paying around $50. It was $40, but went up. If I wasn’t so lazy I would switch providers every year to keep getting those “new customer” deals.
Xfinity. I think we are keeping their internet with our current speed for $65 a month then getting ride of cable and adding YTTV. Gonna save us $100 a month.
I had to keep a local channel bundle to get cheaper internet. I never watch it, but it's a "bundle" with special pricing.
So we are still in trial with YTTV and it's great but sometimes watching live TV (the Chiefs game for instance) it just stops and goes back to the channel lineup for live tv. Does anyone else have that happen? Kind of annoying. If you've had it happen, do you know the reason?
I’ve had that happen once and I think I recall seeing something re Roku doing that automatically if there are no inputs (volume change, anything at all really) during a certain time span to save on data usage. I don’t recall exactly what the time span is, I think around 2.5 - 3 hrs though.
Yeah there’s always going to be a small delay but it can be pretty bad at times for prime time games. I had to watch the OU Baylor game in the ESPN App because the Hulu app was a full 2 minutes of game clock behind. Tried closing everything out and resetting but the Hulu app could never keep up for that game.
That's not us...it happens within 15 minutes that we turn it on. And we are noticing a legit (timed on a stopwatch) lag on live tv for the Chiefs game of over two minutes. YIKES! Might be rethinking this because that is insane. I get even up to 30 seconds but two minutes?!
Google “Roku resetting to home screen”. Seems to be a common problem and lots of solutions you can try.
So...can anyone use this for tailgating considering phone access to data is nonexistent at ISU. That’s why I’ve kept Dish. Perhaps I’ll just activate my dish during season.
This is great...I noticed channels being suggested when the down arrow is pushed...but I never gave it a serious look! Examined it last night and you are right...the suggested channels are the last 4 or 5 you were viewing! This is a nice little feature! Thanks for pointing it out! Any other little things like this with YTTV?
My 14-day YTTV trial is winding down and unless Mediacom throws a fabulous deal at me to keep my TV service, we will make the switch permanent.
I assumed that when I dropped Mediacable cable TV (but keeping their internet) I would lose access to TV apps, like WatchESPN or NBC or whatever. Not that I use them often but they're nice to have in certain occasions. And even without them the YTTV DVR could probably record anything I wanted for future access.
But then I just realized a couple days ago I could still use those apps by changing my provider from Mediacom to YTTV. I hadn't realized that was an option. So that's another nice bonus.
Agree with this! I am surprised YTTV doesn't promote that feature...it is certainly useful!
Yep. Sampled cutting the cord twice and by the time you add in all the things to Hulu TV it's going to surpass my TV bill.
With Hulu jumping $10/month and their dvr being absolute trash, I'm moving to YTTV this week.
