A person has to wonder with the money these coaches are being paid, if they will continue to look towards the next step up in the coaching ranks. Or realize that they can be very successful and comfortable in a jobs like Iowa State or Purdue. Without all the added pressure to win a national championship or at least get in to the playoff.

Ehh, the big east was practically a minor conference when he left. He could have stayed and had a few more years of nice W-L records on easier schedules, but there's no guarantee the big 12 transition would have been any better for him than his years at his next stops.

He flat out tanked in the Big Ten and the pathetic Pac12. He did win an Orange Bowl at WVU

It's the Cleveland Browns job I'm concerned about. With the way the Browns have underperformed this year, Kitchens may not be around next year.

This is a strange take. I would think most coaches would want to be and assume they can be, at a level where they can win a national championship or get into the playoff. I’m sure Campbell absolutely thinks he can.

How did he “tank” in the PAC-12? As a person who lives in AZ I can tell you that all the Wildcat fans would take him back in a second. He didn’t get fired for his teams performance. He is U of A’s most successful coach since 2000.

He didn't win at Az? And if they want him back he will be available. What do I care, have at it..

The Arkansas coaching search is going to be a fun one to watch. Any time where the divide between fan expectations and reality is this massive you're bound for a ********.

How bad is that Arkansas job right now? Arguably the second worst roster in the Power 5 in a division with Alabama, Auburn and LSU. You've got aTm in there that's gobbling up all the talent in the region that you used to have a shot at and the Mississippi schools fluctuate skill wise based on their probation rotation.

They've lost I believe 14 straight conference games and they are still paying two former coaches (one of which they didn't even give two full years) - they are essentially Kansas at this point and that's not a hole they are getting out of any time soon.

Starting to feel like a broken record here: Campbell’s dream job is the Browns. He has no allegiance to Ohio State, the B1G, Notre Dame, etc.

He's said himself he always wanted to coach, but assumed he'd be a head high school coach like his dad. I don't think coaching the Browns is his dream job.

Is Campbell a devout Catholic? He named his son Rudy so maybe he's a Notre Dame fan. ;)

Michigan really likes Michigan guys.
He would fit Notre Dame well from a personality stand point in addition to being a good coach.

... and being Catholic. ND is a good fit in a lot of ways and they would throw a truckload of cash at him.

The thing I hang on to is that CMC wants to create his own legacy, not just continue someone else's. At ND, he would have to win a NC just to get noticed.

Yep we know he's brought up Bill Snyder before and we can hope that's what happens.

Other than the current class, Arkansas has had all top 30 recruiting classes the past 5-6 years. It is a mess right now, but it’s not a bad job by any means once things get corrected. I think they can still get a pretty good coach there like Leech.
