I'm betting he gets some time filling in for Kem and Bull to keep them fresh, but won't be in the regular lineup come tournament time.
Brands caught some message board phony fury last year about how he managed Lee in respect to the regular season with SeaBass. Lee wrestled earlier in the week and then was held out a few days later. Something like that. Even some Hawk fans were throwing shade. Turned out pretty good for Lee didn’t it?
Two years ago when they were cruising against ISU he held out someone. Can’t remember the details. It was a heavier weight. The ISU guy won. Dresser was noticeably irritated.
The former example was a coach managing his wrestler. The later may have been head games. Iowa doesn’t duck anyone. In fact Brands probably has been too aggressive in the Management of his wrestlers over his coaching career in my humble opinion.
That’s the one I referred to earlier. He sat out Wilcke(?) in Ames 2 years ago. It was the last match and he was nursing an injury. Only would have gone if it were 6 or less. Lee pulled up lame 2 nights before the NW meet so they sat him.
It was stated that he’s “pretty well known for holding out guys who are healthy.” Just asking for some examples.
Did it count as ducking when they somehow wound up wrestling Edinboro instead of Va Tech in national duals?
I understood your question. My answer was meant to indicate there aren’t any examples that hold water. There was a lot of chatter about Lee/SeaBass. Last season.

The main beef with this one is that Steven Holloway was there to wrestle that day in relief of Wilcke, but they forfeited anyway.
Most ISU fans saw it as a way for Iowa to say they didn’t lose any matches in the meet.
That’s how I remember it, at least.
Lol ducking is now "head games". There's been multiple examples of when he ducked at Iowa when it wasn't health related. Call it what you want

i believe your only goal is to stir the pot. Having an ISU fan calling out Iowa/Brands related to anything wrestling related isn’t a good look. We are getting better but we haven’t won a national title since ‘87; a conference title since ‘08. We haven’t beat Iowa head to head in forever. Not sure talking smack makes a lot of sense.
Iowa is definitely a better program but that doesn't change the fact Brands is an orange who is known for ducking. Just because they're a better program doesn't mean we can't call out their bush league tactics that hurts the sport
Are there more examples than not wrestling a backup in a blowout dual or is that what has established this reputation you speak of?
