Odd time to be drinking the kool aid given all of the bad news and results recently but figured I’d throw a fluff post out. Anyone think Purdy has a real shot to be a pre-season heisman candidate? Or even be a real threat some time next season? I think he caught some more national attention with that 4th quarter performance yesterday.

It’s definitely possible. He should be in the convo preseason. Probably popping up in the “dark horse” sections a lot.

If ISU finishes strong including him having good games you'd think his name is at least in a few awards conversations.

I think we have to win 9 or maybe even 10 games for him to win it. He will also need to play great and knock off a top 10 Oklahoma team or something like that.

I think it's within reason. Last year in December rumors started about the possibility of gameday coming to Ames in 2019 and that worked out. The stigma of nothing good happens to Iowa State is false.

The problem is, every year we seem to start slow, and it is hard for someone to be a Heisman candidate with 1 or 2 losses at the beginning of the season, no matter how the rest of the season goes.

That's exactly what I thought.

If he has solid games the rest of the way out and maybe a couple "statement" plays or stat lines (and maybe a solid bowl performance), hard to not get him in at least some of the top 10 odds.

I don’t think the line will be better than this year but it probably won’t be much, if at all worse either.

I was going to say. . . they've looked better this season, but they're still just OK. The turnover might sting early next season. I could see us dropping the Iowa game again due to it, but it's likely they may even be better.
